Credit Unions in Five States Appoint New CEOs

New leaders take the helm at CUs in Michigan, Tennessee, Nevada, Oklahoma and New York.

The $305 million Marshall Community Credit Union in Marshall, Mich., appointed Corrie Rozell as president/CEO.

Rozell, who has been serving as interim CEO since January, succeeded former CEO Heather Luciani, who is now serving as chief strategy officer for the $1.4 billion Honor Credit Union in Berrien Springs, Mich.

Rozell launched her career with MCCU as a teller in 2008 and was promoted to branch and marketing manager before she became COO in 2017, her LinkedIn profile showed.

MCCU’s 60 employees manage three branches serving 14,628 members.

Ben Johnson was named president/CEO of the $267 million US Community Credit Union in Nashville, Tenn.

He succeeds former president/CEO Paul Johnson, who retired March 31 after 25 years of service.

During Paul Johnson’s tenure, the credit union doubled its assets, launched two high school student-run branches, and introduced numerous elementary and middle school financial literacy programs. He also oversaw the expansion of the credit union’s service charter multiple times so that more members, including the underserved, could access financial products and services.

US Community’s 77 employees operate five branches serving more than 27,000 members.

Todd Sorenson, who served credit unions and other financial institutions as a certified public accountant for more than 20 years, has been appointed president/CEO of the $252 million Elko Federal Credit Union in Elko, Nevada.

He succeeds John B. Kelly.

Sorenson most recently worked as an assurance partner with Eide Bailly LLP in Phoenix. He also served as a director for McGladrey LLP in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Elko’s 50 employees operate three branches serving 16,411 members.

The $83.6 million Cherokee Strip Credit Union in Ponca City, Okla., named Spike Henderson as president/CEO.

He succeeds Johnny O’Hare, who left the credit union after six years of service to care for family in Florida, the credit union said in a prepared statement.

Henderson joins the credit union from Equity Bank where he served as a region president.

Cherokee Strip’s 25 employees operate two branches serving more than 9,000 members.

Lisa Hilton was promoted to president/CEO of the $64 million Radius Federal Credit Union in Kenmore, N.Y.

She succeeds Tracey Landahl, who retired after 22 years of service.

Hilton previously served as Radius’ operations manager.

The credit union’s five employees operate one branch serving more than 5,000 members.
