The Summit FCU, MCC Partnership Brings Perks to College Students
Upstate New York credit union makes a two-year, $10,000 commitment to college athletics program.
The Summit Federal Credit Union ($1.1 billion, Rochester, N.Y.) announced its intention to contribute $10,000 over two years to the athletics program at Monroe Community College in Rochester.
In addition to the monetary contribution, the new partnership between the credit union and Monroe Community College Athletics will result in new opportunities for the credit union to educate the school’s students and recent graduates about personal finances, as well as engage with student and faculty members. First, The Summit said it plans to host educational personal finance sessions, led by its senior business relations specialist, for MCC students and recent graduates entering the workforce. Second, the credit union will add a dedicated MCC webpage to its site containing educational articles and information for MCC staff and faculty; a “Summit Corner” webpage will also be developed for the MCC’s site, which will link directly to The Summit’s MCC page.
Finally, The Summit said it is launching a specially designed debit card displaying MCC’s colors and emblem, which will be available to all members of The Summit – including MCC students, alumni, faculty and the public – during the school’s spring semester. In addition, The Summit noted it plans to increase its presence at MCC Athletics events as the partnership develops.
MCC is a public community college that is part of the State University of New York and has campuses in Rochester and Brighton, N.Y. Its athletics program, which has been in existence since 1962 and is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association, runs men’s programs for baseball, basketball, lacrosse, soccer, and swimming and diving, as well as women’s programs for basketball, lacrosse, softball, soccer, swimming and diving, and volleyball, according to its website.
“We are delighted to partner with MCC Athletics and bring our financial expertise and commitment to our community to the table,” The Summit Vice President of Marketing and Community Engagement Twanda Christensen stated. “We look forward to working together with Athletic staff and students to ‘raise the game’ of both The Summit and the Tribunes!”
Aaron Bouyea, MCC’s Director of Athletics, added, “We are thrilled to welcome The Summit to the MCC family and appreciate their commitment to our student-athletes and the MCC athletic program. There is a natural fit here that makes this partnership all the more special.”
