Vibe Credit Union CEO Plans to Retire During the Summer of 2022
The credit union's board of directors is searching for Allan McMorris’ successor.
After 31 years at the helm, Allan Kemp McMorris said Friday he will retire as president/CEO of Vibe Credit Union in the summer of 2022.
McMorris launched his career 36 years ago as an accounting supervisor at the $367 million Oakland County Credit Union in Waterford, Mich. In March 1990, he was named its president/CEO.
In 2019, McMorris oversaw the completion of Oakland County CU’s consolidation with the Novi, Mich.-based Vibe, which currently manages $1.1 billion in assets and operates 16 branches across three counties.
Most recently, McMorris led Vibe’s remotely executed dual-core conversion project at the height of the pandemic last year. In the early days of the coronavirus crisis, when credit union branch employees were working under challenging conditions, McMorris lifted their spirits when he stood outside a teller window holding a placard expressing his appreciation for employees’ dedication during those difficult and uncertain days.
Vibe’s 240 employees serve a membership of more than 72,000.
“I’ve been blessed with a dedicated board of directors, an extraordinary management team, and a devoted team of employees who care about our members,” McMorris said in a prepared statement. “I’ve had the opportunity to serve the movement and my community, and it’s truly been a pleasure. I look forward to watching the exciting future of Vibe Credit Union.”
Vibe’s board of directors has hired D. Hilton to find McMorris’ successor.
“Allan has built an amazing team dedicated to serving and improving the financial lives of our members. He has built an exceptional culture for the management team and staff that always puts the members first,” Vibe Board Chair Dale Cunningham said in a prepared statement. “We want to thank and acknowledge Allan for the strength of the credit union today and wish him well in his retirement. It is an exciting time for Vibe Credit Union as we chart a course for our future growth.”
