The Louisiana Credit Union League said Thursday its president/CEO, Bob Gallman, plans to retire in March 2022, capping an extensive career in the movement that spanned more than 45 years.

In a prepared statement, the Harahan-based LCUL said Gallman’s knowledge of the credit union system was instrumental when he took the helm as CEO in 2018, succeeding Anne Cochran.

“He aided in several operational upgrades, secured new partnerships, and made key enhancements to products and services,” the LCUL said. “Additionally, in an effort to show continued commitment and solidarity with Louisiana credit unions, he was the driving force behind the distribution of COVID-19 rebate payments to membership, a first of its kind in the association landscape.”

Prior to his role as LCUL CEO, Gallman served as a vice president and senior marketing officer for CUNA Mutual Group in Madison, Wis. He also held a number of leadership positions at the Cornerstone Credit Union League including EVP, COO and chief business services officer.

“From day one, Bob has been dedicated to raising the standards of what makes a trade association valuable. Under his leadership, the League has continued to emerge as one of the most respected trade associations,” said LCUL Board Chair Sidney Parfait, who also serves as board chair of the $51.6 Million Post Office Employees’ Credit Union in Metairie. “It has been an honor and a privilege to work side by side with such an influential force in the movement.”

The LCUL board said it plans to discuss the formal succession process at an upcoming meeting.

“I am extremely humbled by the opportunities I was afforded and the experiences it created. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished here in Louisiana over the past years together and to be part of such rich tradition,” Gallman said in a prepared statement. “While I look forward to spending more time with my grandchildren, I will be eternally grateful for the relationships that were formed and find comfort in knowing that the Louisiana League has an extraordinary future.”
