Teachers Federal Credit Union President/CEO Brad Calhoun (left) presents a $20,000 check to Island Harvest President/CEO Randi Shubin Dresner at the Island Harvest Healthy Harvest Farm in Brentwood, N.Y. The $8.7 billion, Hauppauge, N.Y.-based Teachers' sponsorship of the farm includes weekly volunteer opportunities for Teachers employees, who can receive paid time off to assist with various tasks on the grounds including planting, raking and weeding. Island Harvest Food Bank recently reopened its Healthy Harvest Farm to supply over 20,000 pounds of locally grown fruits and vegetables to those struggling with hunger in the Long Island, N.Y., region.

The Smile Station cart was loaded with card games, fidget toys, activity books and more, all with the goal of distracting and entertaining a young ER patient in a time of high anxiety. Jeanne D'Arc donated two carts, one to each of the two-campus hospital's Emergency Departments.

Natasha Chilingerian
Natasha Chilingerian has been immersed in the credit union industry for over a decade. She first joined CU Times in 2011 as a freelance writer, and following a two-year hiatus from 2013-2015, during which time she served as a communications specialist for Xceed Financial Credit Union (now Kinecta Federal Credit Union), she re-joined the CU Times team full-time as managing editor. She was promoted to executive editor in 2019. In the earlier days of her career, Chilingerian focused on news and lifestyle journalism, serving as a writer and editor for numerous regional publications in Oregon, Louisiana, South Carolina and the San Francisco Bay Area. In addition, she holds experience in marketing copywriting for companies in the finance and technology space.
