Isaac Johnson has been appointed president/CEO of the $4.3 billion TDECU in Lake Jackson, Texas, the board of directors said Thursday.

He succeeds Stephanie Sherrodd, who left the credit union in April to pursue outside opportunities. At that time, Johnson was named interim CEO.

“To say I am excited about TDECU’s future doesn’t quite cover it,” TDECU Board Chair Dick Smith said. “In Isaac we have a leader who is not only thoughtful, but is relentless in his commitment to our organization, to the impact we make in our communities, and to the financial journeys we help guide. We are in great hands.”

Johnson previously served as TDECU’s chief administrative, legal and diversity officer. Before joining the credit union, he held executive positions with USAA, Wells Fargo and Trustmark National Bank. He also serves as a brigadier general commanding the 351st Civil Affairs Command in the United States Army Reserve.

TDECU is Houston’s largest credit union and the fourth-largest financial cooperative in the Lone Star State. The credit union’s 857 employees operate 37 branches that serve more than 360,000 members.
