Growing Wyoming Credit Union Launches New Brand Name
StagePoint FCU reflects its commitment to help members with financial decisions at every stage of life.
A Wyoming credit union said Monday it officially changed its name from Laramie Plains Federal Credit Union to StagePoint Federal Credit Union.
The credit union was chartered in 1935 and is the oldest financial cooperative in Laramie, the state’s fourth largest city with a population of more than 32,000.
The new brand name was chosen because it highlights the credit union’s focus to provide trusted counsel to help members navigate through the financial decisions they make at every stage of life.
“Laramie Plains FCU has served Laramie and the surrounding communities for 86 years,” StagePoint President/CEO Tyler Valentine said. “In that time, our members’ financial needs have changed a great deal. The name StagePoint reflects who we have always been, your local credit union, working for you to ensure you have the resources to achieve your financial dreams. Our team and leadership remain the same, but now our name and our brand will reflect our long-held commitment to our members and our community.”
What’s more, StagePoint’s branch office on Grand Avenue is in the final stage of construction and will open soon to serve members. The North Third Street branch, which also houses the credit union’s corporate office, will begin an extensive remodel with a projected completion date this July.
With 16 full-time employees, StagePoint has posted substantial growth in members, loans and assets over the last five years.
For example, its membership has expanded from 6,576 in 2016 to 7,451 at the end of 2020, while total loans have increased from $37.5 million to $47.4 million, and assets have jumped from $46.5 million to $65.2 million within the same years, according to NCUA financial performance reports.
The new name will be implemented across the credit union’s products and services throughout 2021. The website, stagepointFCU.com, is live.
