Stephanie Sherrodd Resigns as TDECU President/CEO to Pursue Outside Opportunities

Stephanie Sherrodd, president/CEO of TDECU, the largest credit union in Houston and the fourth largest in Texas, will resign from her position on April 30.

In a prepared statement Tuesday, the credit union said, “Stephanie will be leaving TDECU to pursue outside opportunities.”

Isaac Johnson, TDECU’s SVP, chief administrative, legal and diversity officer, was named interim CEO.

He previously served as TDECU’s SVP, chief risk officer and general counsel from 2014 to 2018. After serving as a corporate secretary for USAA and as a Commanding General for the 351st Civil Affairs Command of the U.S. Army Reserve, he rejoined the credit union last year.

Sherrodd was appointed CEO in 2012. Under her executive leadership, the credit union grew loans from $1.7 billion to $3.6 billion while assets increased from $1.9 billion to $4 billion, and membership expanded from 167,735 to 354,253.

In a prepared statement, Sherrodd said she felt fortunate to have served the TDECU board of directors, employees and members, and is proud of the team’s unwavering commitment to the credit union mission and community.

“I am grateful for the relationships, and the partnerships that have allowed our team to deliver on the growth and success of our credit union,” she said. “Thank you to the community of Lake Jackson who have embraced my family – we look forward to our next chapter and the future.”

TDECU Board Chair Dick Smith said: “On behalf of the board of directors, our leadership team, and employees, we are forever grateful for her leadership, her commitment to the credit union mission and our community, and we wish her all the best in her new pursuits.”

Based in Lake Jackson, TDECU’s 847 employees operate 37 branches.
