Two Board Members From Same CU Die Within Two Months of Each Other
Louisiana’s WBRT Federal Credit Union mourns the loss of Arlean Tillman and Wilhemenia Decuir.
A small Louisiana credit union is mourning the loss of two board members who died within two months of each other.
Arlean Tillman, who had been recently appointed board chair of the $2.4 million WBRT Federal Credit Union, died on Jan. 8, according to the credit union’s statement. Tillman was 66.
Tillman recently became the board chair after the passing of Wilhemenia Decuir on Nov. 15. She was 83.
“Mrs. Tillman was a wonderful lady with a bright smile. She treated everybody with kindness and love. She loved working on projects to enhance the advancement of the credit union,” WBRT said in a prepared statement. “Our thoughts are with Mrs. Tillman’s family, friends and coworkers during this difficult time as we remember and celebrate her integrity and compassion.”
Tillman joined the board in 2014 and served as its vice chair from 2015 to 2020.
In an online tribute message about Decuir, Angella Johnson, president/CEO of WBRT, wrote: “It was a blessing to work with Mrs. Decuir. She truly loved her credit union.”
Dwain Hall is the board chair, according to the credit union’s Dec. 31, 2020 profile document filed with the NCUA. Valencia Anderson is listed as a new board member, according to the profile document.
WBRT serves a membership of 1,071.
