CUs Make Donations & Play Golf to Support Communities
This week’s fundraising efforts target food pantries, students, caregivers, the homeless and people in need of home repairs.

Four Missouri credit unions serving the greater St. Louis metropolitan area – the $301 million Arsenal in Arnold, $124 million Century Credit Union in St. Louis, $3.2 billion First Community in Chesterfield and $2 billion Together CU in St. Louis – provided the donation, which will fund a new walk-in freezer. The freezer will replace a malfunctioning, older version, helping the Arnold Food Pantry store nutritious perishables at food-safe temperatures.

The $525 million, Maple Grove, Minn.-based TopLine held its 17th Annual School Supply Drive to benefit local non-profits Avenues for Youth, Community Emergency Assistance Programs and Keystone Community Services. TopLine members and employees donated a variety of supplies including notebooks, binders, folders, pencils, crayons, calculators, flash drives and backpacks. When the six-week drive ended, TopLine employees and members had donated over 850 school supply items and over $890 in cash to assist local youth in need.

The Security Service Charitable Foundation, the charitable arm of the $10.15 billion, San Antonio, Texas-based Security Service Federal Credit Union, donated $2,500 to Golfers Fore Others, a group of retired volunteers who repair homes for needy families free of charge. The donation will help purchase tools and materials necessary for a variety of repairs. Now in its 19th year, the organization has completed more than 700 home repair and renovation projects.

The $608 million, Lawrenceville, Ga.-based Peach State FCU made the donation to Family Promise of Gwinnett County to support its mission to end homelessness in Georgia’s Gwinnett County. The organization connects local resources to homeless children and their families to help them regain their housing and independence. It is part of the national Family Promise program and has helped stabilize more than 3,000 guests since 2003.
Indiana Members Foundation, the charitable arm of the $2.48 billion, Indianapolis-based Indiana Members Credit Union, hosted its 12th Annual Golf Outing at Valle Vista Golf Course in Greenwood, Ind., on July 22. One-hundred twenty golfers attended the sold-out event, which raised over $42,000 for the Indiana Members Foundation, whose mission is to support children in Indianapolis and surrounding communities through its scholarship and grant programs. The $871 million Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union in Katy, Texas recently donated $3,690 to the Texas Nurses Association’s “Care for the Caregiver” initiative. The credit union held an auto loan promotion in May and June with a promise to donate $10 for each booked and funded loan. The end result of the six-week promotion was 369 new auto loans on the books.
