Days after CUNA announced that the 2021 Governmental Affairs Conference will be a virtual event, the trade organization announced a new virtual conference to be held this year.

CUNA Councils said on Wednesday that it has created this new virtual event for the CUNA Technology and CUNA Operations & Member Experience Council to take place Sept. 29 to Oct. 1.

According to David Rohn, vice president of CUNA Councils, this virtual event, like so many others, will replace the in-person conference.

"Our work isn't business as usual right now, and neither is this event," Rohn said. "This new virtual conference option was adapted from the planned face-to-face event to maximize interactions and relationship-building among peers and thought leaders with live chat, speaker Q&As and one-on-one networking opportunities. We've worked with our Executive Committee members to create a program that addresses the needs of now."

Earlier this week, CUNA announced that the 2021 GAC, would be a virtual event for the first time in its history. The in-person GAC event has been held each year in Washington, D.C., and is attended by several thousand credit union professionals.

Conference officials said the CUNA Tech/OME virtual conference will be as important as the in-person event. "Connecting and sharing as credit union professionals is one of the most powerful actions that we can take to support members and fulfill the credit union purpose of people-helping-people," Chris Saneda, senior EVP/COO for Virginia Credit Union and CUNA Technology Council chair, said.

"The CUNA Operations & Member Experience Council and CUNA Technology Council's Virtual Conference Option has all the tools in place to make the most of what you have and give you access to additional information, resources and guidance," Buddy Bennett, COO for Cyprus Federal Credit Union and CUNA Operations & Member Experience Council chair added.

Information about the virtual conference can be found on the CUNA Councils website.
