Greylock Federal Credit Union Signs Nationwide Pledge for Financial Inclusion

Greylock Federal Credit Union has joined the African American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC) and has signed on to the national Credit Union Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Collective’s statement of solidarity and commitment to change.
Greylock FCU’s ($1.4 billion in assets, more than 89,000 members) board of directors unanimously voted to sign on to the nationwide commitment, which is spearheaded by the AACUC’s Commitment to Change and brings credit unions together to listen, learn, advocate and amplify the voices of the marginalized and vulnerable members of the community.
The goal of the pledge, according to a press release from Greylock, is to help credit unions to focus on clear actionable efforts to create real, meaningful, transformative and sustained change.
More than 150 credit unions and service providers have signed on to the pledge since its launch on this year’s Juneteenth holiday (June 19th). The position statement reads: “Together, we are stronger. Together, we can create a better world where all members of our communities can take part in our democracy, live free of fear from violence, and enjoy physical and financial well-being. We stand for financial democracy.”
The Pittsfield, Mass.-based Greylock said its membership in the AACUC and the “added counsel and tools” of the organization’s Commitment to Change will aid it in its work to strengthen access to financial services for people of color in the community.
“This call to action is directly in line with Greylock’s long held commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility. The pledge serves to strengthen our resolve to help our entire community to thrive,” Greylock President and CEO John L. Bissell said in a press release. “Our Board is committed to the hard work that lies before us during this time of great social change.”
