In a time where unemployment is at a record high due to the pandemic and subsequent recession, unless you are a company like Zoom or Netflix, not many businesses are looking to expand their workforce. However, the credit union industry has recognized the need to adapt quickly to the changing needs of its members.

Case in point, VyStar Credit Union, the largest credit union headquartered in Northeast Florida. The $9.5 billion VyStar just announced that to meet the growing member need for virtual banking, it will be hiring up to 50 full-time Contact Center positions in its locations in Jacksonville and Gainesville.

VyStar, which has more than 725,000 members based primarily in Florida and Georgia, said in a statement that these positions are being created to "assist with a recent increase in the volume of transactions that are completed online and over the phone" and that the Contact Center employees are there to help members virtually with any financial transactions or to answer account questions.

In addition, VyStar added that these newly-created positions have potential career growth opportunity within the organization.

"We are fortunate to be in a position that allows us to recruit talented individuals to begin their careers with VyStar, especially during a considerably difficult time when many other companies have been forced to reduce staff," VyStar President/CEO Brian Wolfburg said. "We remain dedicated to doing everything possible to make a positive impact by creating these positions and offering future opportunities for advancement as part of our team."

The announcement from VyStar also added that it is offering a benefits package that includes paid time off, medical and 401(k) with company match, parental/family care leave, child adoption assistance, student loan payoff stipends and enhanced upfront tuition assistance, and paid days off for community volunteering.
