Troy Stang Elected New Chair of CUNA’s Board of Directors

The national trade group also elects new executive committee officers.

Troy Stang, president/CEO of the Northwest Credit Union Association in Sea Tac, Wash., was elected  the new board chair of CUNA, the national trade group said Monday.

Stang will address the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference Tuesday for the first time as board chair.

“Troy served the organization well during his tenure as the vice chairman of our CUNA board,” CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle said. “I want to welcome Troy to his new role. I know CUNA will benefit greatly from the experience and energy he will bring to the position. I also want to thank our outgoing Chairman Brett Martinez for his excellent leadership and contributions to the credit union movement.”

Martinez is president/CEO of the $4.9 billion Redwood Credit Union in Santa Rosa, Calif.

Also elected to CUNA’s executive committee were Vice Chair Brad Green, president/CEO of the $876 million Listerhill Credit Union in Muscle Shoals, Ala.; Secretary Tony Budet, president/CEO of the $2.6 billion University Federal Credit Union; Treasurer Lisa Ginter, CEO of the $2.9 billion CommunityAmerica in Lenexa, Kan.; and At-Large Member Caroline Willard, president/CEO of the Cornerstone Credit Union League in Plano, Texas.

“I am honored to be elected as chair of the CUNA Board of Directors, in service to the movement,” Stang said. “The real tangible value not-for-profit, cooperative credit unions generate and deliver to diverse memberships and communities across our great nation are what make these financial institutions so different. There is no other financial services model that is directly accountable to those it serves. I am committed to inspiring collaboration throughout the industry to ensure the cooperative charter credit unions operate under is advanced and protected.”

The executive committee members steer CUNA throughout the year. They are supported by a board of directors and will serve through the 2021 GAC Annual General Meeting.
