5 Credit Unions, 3 CUSOs Hire, Promote & Honor
SkyOne FCU, St. Anne’s CU, Cloud Financial CU and others announce People news this week.
WEST
The $485 million SkyOne Federal Credit Union in Hawthorne, Calif., hired two employees.
Russ McAtee was hired as chief lending officer. As chief lending officer, McAtee will oversee SkyOne’s consumer, mortgage, commercial lending, loan servicing and credit risk management. McAtee has more than 30 years of financial services expertise working with credit unions. He has a master’s in business administration from Arizona State University and a bachelor’s of science in financial administration from Michigan State University.
Scott Ko was hired as CFO.
As CFO, Ko will oversee the credit union’s finance division, comprised of the accounting and risk management departments, working to continuously ensure the security of member-owned dollars. Ko has more than 15 years of credit union experience, holding a variety of roles in accounting, finance, operations and member services. He earned his bachelor’s in economics from Occidental College and is a licensed CPA.

Tom Becker, chief lending officer at the $1.4 billion, Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass.-based Hanscom Federal Credit Union, was named to the 2019-2020 CUNA Lending Council Executive Committee. The committee, which was announced at the 25th annual conference in New Orleans, ensures the unique challenges credit unions face as lenders are understood and well managed. Becker is responsible for the credit union’s consumer, residential mortgage and business lending, as well as collections, overseeing 60 loan officers and 50 operations personnel. He has more than 35 years of financial institution experience primarily in the field of lending operations at several national, regional and local financial institutions.
MIDWEST
The $225 million LOC Federal Credit Union in Farmington, Mich., hired Stephen P. Grech as president/CEO. Grech brings nearly 35 years of banking experience to LOC FCU. He holds a bachelor’s of science in business administration from Wayne State University and has attended CEO Institute training sessions at several prestigious universities. Prior to joining LOC FCU, Grech served as president/CEO of the $217 million Monroe County Community Credit Union in Monroe, Mich.
SOUTH
The $985 million St. Anne’s Credit Union in Fall River, Mass., hired one employee and promoted another.
Michael Fleming was hired as a mortgage specialist. Fleming is responsible for aiding in the expansion of the credit union’s mortgage products and services in the Plymouth, Mass., area by generating and maintaining banking relationships with consumers seeking residential mortgages or refinancing opportunities. Prior to joining St. Anne’s, he most recently worked for Bank of England in Boston as a mortgage loan originator, where he was responsible for developing client relationships with those looking to purchase a home or refinance their mortgage.
Patricia Borba was promoted to assistant vice president of audit. Borba has worked at St. Anne’s since 2014 and most recently served as internal auditor. In her new role, Borba will continue to provide the credit union with updates on the internal audit environment and manage the credit union’s audit function. Borba started her career in 2005 at Citizen’s Bank as a loan analyst and staff accountant before serving as auditor.
The Sartell Chamber of Commerce named Jed A. Meyer, president/CEO of the $200 million St. Cloud Financial Credit Union in St. Cloud, Minn., Sartell Citizen of the Year.
The honor is a way for the Sartell Chamber to recognize businesses and citizens who go the “extra mile” for the Sartell community. As president/CEO over the past five years, Meyer has doubled the growth of his credit union and built its brand to make a meaningful difference for people. Additionally, he has extensive and tireless community leadership and advocacy experience. One of Meyer’s proudest contributions includes securing funding for the KIVA Project, a financial education program focused on helping people in developing countries.
CUSOS
CU Service Network selected Nathan Rogers as vice president of business development and marketing. With two decades of credit union experience, Rogers has the familiarity necessary to help meet the needs of credit unions throughout the country. Rogers began his credit union career 20 years ago as the director of marketing and IT for Steelcase Employees Credit Union (now the $186 million Community West Credit Union) in Grand Rapids, Mich. He continued his career in credit union marketing with the $64 million Rivertown Community Federal Credit Union, also in Grand Rapids, where he led major initiatives in branding, digital experience, IT, branch expansion, indirect lending and business development, as well as participated as a member of the ALM committee and executive management team.
Emergifi hired Susan Devanney as a strategic sales executive. Devanney will proactively assess the needs of clients and potential clients, while building and maintaining business relationships. She will also conduct research and have a good understanding of current and future trends in the industry to assist credit unions with their technology needs. Devanney has an extensive background in a strategic sales capacity, having worked for Experian, CheckAlt, and PSCU Financial Services. She has more than 15 years of sales experience with credit unions, CUSOs and banks.
PSCU named Kevin Spear SVP, service delivery. In his role, Spear will be responsible for driving the strategic direction, continuous improvement and operational effectiveness of PSCU’s service delivery team. Spear’s appointment marks a return to the company for the payments industry veteran, who previously led client relations and services at PSCU from 2006 to 2012. Throughout his career, Spear has held several executive roles in sales, service and client relations with firms including Card Management Corporation, PNC Bank and UPS Capital Corp.
