Credit Unions Support Veterans & Donate Food, Care Packages
Cooperatives gear up for Thanksgiving by funding meals and holiday care packages for those in need.
Employees from the $507 million BMI Federal Credit Union in Dublin, Ohio present Thanksgiving food items collected from each of its branches for the Byron Saunders Foundation Thanksgiving Food Drive. The Food Drive provides central Ohio families in need with items so they can enjoy a warm Thanksgiving meal.
Members and staff from the $514 million Peach State Federal Credit Union in Lawrenceville, Ga., collected and donated non-perishable food items to the Neighbors 4 Neighbors Food Pantry in Toccoa, Ga. Peach State collects items throughout the year at all branch locations and makes quarterly donations to food banks in its service area. Neighbors 4 Neighbors provides a food pantry to serve those in its community who are dealing with food insecurity.

In honor of Veterans Day 2019, the $1.8 billion American Eagle Financial Credit Union in East Hartford, Conn., awarded the Connecticut Veterans Legal Center and the Iwo Jima Memorial Historical Foundation with grants from the American Eagle Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. A total of $5,000 was donated to support the CVCL’s Removing Legal Barriers program, which serves veterans at the VA Errera Community Care Center in West Haven, Conn., and VA campuses in Newington, Conn., and CT DVA Rocky Hill facility; as well as The Iwo Jima Memorial Historical Foundation’s National Iwo Jima Memorial Park on Ella Grasso Boulevard in New Britain/Newington and related veterans programs hosted at the park.
Employees from the $2.7 billion Robins Financial Credit Union in Warner Robins, Ga., pose in front of care packages the credit union is donating to the 21st Century Partnership. The holiday care packages will be sent to deployed troops from Robins Air Force Base. As a part of this annual event, Robins Financial collected a variety of items from snacks and grooming items to magazines, batteries and other beneficial items.
