Professionals Make New Career Moves at 6 Credit Unions
OnPoint Community CU, Evergreen CU, Credit Union of America and others announce People news this week.
WEST
The $6.1 billion OnPoint Community Credit Union in Portland, Ore., appointed Jackie Dunckley to chief talent officer, a new position that serves on the credit union’s executive team. Since joining OnPoint in 2014, Dunckley has made important contributions as vice president of human resources, including building partnerships across the organization, as well as developing systems and practices to support effective talent management. As part of her new role, Dunckley will lead efforts to promote OnPoint’s work around diversity, equity and inclusion. She will also lead the member services team, which includes more than 70 team members in OnPoint’s contact center.
The $2.1 Elevations Credit Union in Boulder, Colo., promoted one employee and hired two others.
Barka Atsemet was promoted to mortgage loan officer. Serving the north Denver metro area, Atsemet’s goal as a mortgage loan officer is to help clients navigate the mortgage financing process from application to closing. Atsemet has worked at Elevations for the last five years and has nearly 16 years of experience in the financial industry. He is based at Elevations’ offices at 1 Environmental Way in Broomfield.
Chris Thorpe was hired as a CFS Financial Advisor at Elevations Wealth Management.
Thorpe will be based out of Elevations’ offices at 1 Environmental Way in Broomfield. Thorpe brings extensive knowledge of the financial services industry to his new position. He served as a branch manager since 2007 and has been registered with FINRA since 2014. Thorpe is based at the Elevations Fort Collins Midtown Branch. He is the first dedicated CFS Financial Advisor to be based in Fort Collins.
Juan Evans was hired as a business banking relationship manager. Evans has more than a decade of experience serving small businesses and brings a tremendous passion for helping his clients succeed and grow.
Evans will primarily cover the north Denver metro area and US-36 corridor. Adding Evans is a critical step in expanding the credit union’s ability to serve small businesses in the metro Denver area.
EAST
The $314 million Evergreen Credit Union in Portland, Maine hired two employees.
Cassandra Mooers was hired as a mortgage loan originator. Mooers offers experience in financial services as both a mortgage originator and title processor.
Julia Leighton was hired as membership development associate. Leighton has more than 10 years of experience in sales and customer service, and will help to grow ECU@Work, the credit union’s financial wellness platform for local businesses and their employees.
MIDWEST
The $966 million Credit Union of America in Wichita, Kan., promoted three employees.
Tonya Loper was promoted to assistant vice president of branch operations and will also serve as CUA’s branch manager for its flagship Delano office at 711 W. Douglas Ave. in Wichita. Loper joined CUA in 2001 and has 21 years of financial services experience in banking and credit unions. She has served CUA as a lead teller, assistant manager and branch manager.
Melissa Gattenby was promoted to assistant vice president of support services.
Gattenby will direct all aspects of operations for the Transaction Assist Professional Teller Center and the service inbound-calling center at CUA’s corporate headquarters. She previously served as branch manager of the Delano office and most recently as the operations automations manager, where back-office on-screen tellers serve members via interactive teller machines across the state.
Cody Blasi was promoted to operations automations manager. He will lead and assist in CUA’s frontline technology area, including managing the service performance and growth of the tellers for CUA’s interactive teller machines.
Blasi has 13 years of financial services experience including his first CUA job as a temporary data clean-up clerk when he was in his senior year of high school, and acquired a deep understanding of the industry as he served as a teller, file clerk, vault teller, teller supervisor, teller trainer, teller specialist and training specialist.
SOUTH
The $2.7 billion Robins Financial Credit Union in Warner Robins, Ga., announced John Rhea, president/CEO, is retiring in March 2020. Rhea has worked within the financial industry for more than 40 years and with Robins Financial since 1996. He was promoted from his position as EVP to the role of president/CEO in 2008. Under his leadership, Robins Financial has more than doubled in assets to $2.7 billion, grown to serve over 212,000 members worldwide and is now the second largest credit union in Georgia.
The $10.4 billion Suncoast Credit Union in Tampa, Fla., hired Michael Greenhoe as a business relationship officer for the commercial lending department. Greenhoe joined Suncoast’s commercial lending team in August 2019 and is responsible for growth in the commercial loan and deposit portfolios in Southwest Florida, working with a variety of businesses and industries. He concentrates on helping Suncoast business account members find the right commercial loan funding to fit their needs. He has more than 37 years of experience in financial services, specializing in commercial banking.
