Jovia Financial CU Announces NHL Sponsorship Deal
The season-long deal includes signage at the arena, advertising and special event nights.
Westbury, N.Y.-based Jovia Financial Credit Union has announced a deal to become the official partner and the official credit union of the National Hockey League’s New York Islanders.
The season-long deal includes signage in nearby Nassau Coliseum, as well as sponsorship of special event nights and advertising, the credit union said.
“We’ve always hoped the Islanders would return home, and we’re so excited to see that it’s moving ahead,” Jovia Financial President and CEO John Deieso said. “We’re proud to celebrate their return and we’re excited to be part of their fervent and loyal following here. This should be an exciting season on the ice and we look forward to being part of the action.”
Jovia Financial Credit Union is the new name of NEFCU, which rebranded in September. The credit union has $3.4 billion in assets and about 197,000 members.
The New York Islanders have been playing at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center for the past four seasons, but this year the team plans to play 28 games in the Nassau Coliseum. In 2021, the team intends to move to the Belmont Park Arena, according to the credit union’s announcement.
Jovia Financial is not the only credit union to sign a sponsorship deal with an NHL team. In November 2018, Edwardsville, Ill.-based Scott Credit Union announced a five-year deal with the St. Louis Blues that would make the name and logo visible to fans through advertising in the team’s home in the 19,000-seat Enterprise Center in downtown St. Louis near the Mississippi River. American Eagle Credit Union also signed a multi-year partnership with the St. Louis Blues hockey team that would create a new seating area at the city’s Enterprise Center. Scott Credit Union has $1.2 billion in assets and about 145,000 members.
