The NCUA Board

Although his term expired in August NCUA board member J. Mark McWatters said Friday he will remain on the board until a new member is nominated and confirmed.

McWatters is one of two Republicans on the NCUA board; the other GOP member is Chairman Rodney Hood. Two of the three board members may belong to the president's political party.

Even after a board member's term has expired, the member may continue to serve until he is replaced. That was the case with Democrat Rick Metsger, who stayed on the board until Hood and Democrat Todd Harper were confirmed.
