Southern Leagues Officially Finalize Merger

Georgia’s credit unions will now be served by the League of Southeastern Credit Unions.

The League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates and the Georgia Credit Union League announced Tuesday that they have completed the consolidation of the two organizations that will serve 342 credit unions in Alabama, Florida and Georgia. 

The merger was officially finalized on Aug. 30, the leagues said. 

Mike Mercer, former president/CEO of Georgia Credit Union Affiliates, will serve as president/CEO of LSCU & Affiliates, focusing on expanded advocacy initiatives at the state and national levels.

Patrick La Pine, former president/CEO of LSCU & Affiliates, will serve as president/ CEO of Affiliates Consolidated Services, LSCU’s new holding company.

ACS includes LEVERAGE, the LSCU service corporation, Alabama and Georgia shared branching and business services previously offered through the Georgia Credit Union Service Corporation and CSI. He will also lead all shared services (back office) functions for the newly consolidated league.

Announced earlier this year, the New Jersey Credit Union League will officially merge into the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association on Jan. 1, 2020.
