Professionals at 8 CUs Celebrate Career Moves & Accolades
The board chair for a South Carolina credit union is inducted into the African-American Credit Union Coalition Hall of Fame.
WEST
Greater Nevada Insurance, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the $1 billion Greater Nevada Credit Union in Carson City, Nev., hired Insurance Agent Brent Cordell. As GNI’s local insurance agent, Cordell will help answer insurance questions, review current policies and provide advice on the best coverage available. GNI offers home, renters, auto, business, umbrella insurance and more. Cordell joins GNI with many years of insurance experience and customer service, project management and business development expertise.
The $400 million Clackamas Federal Credit Union in Milwaukie, Ore., promoted two employees.
Kimo Rosa was promoted to chief lending officer. Rosa brings more than 15 years of branch operations and lending leadership experience to his new role. He will lead Clackamas FCU’s collections, consumer, real estate and business lending units, and serve as a member of the credit union’s senior management team, helping to develop and drive strategies to improve members’ lives in the community. Kimo began his career with Clackamas FCU in 2006 and previously served as vice president of lending.
Alicia Finch was promoted to assistant vice president of branch services. Finch brings 14 years of branch operations and leadership experience to her new role. She will serve as a member of the senior management team and lead the credit union’s eight branches and call center. She previously served as senior branch manager.
The $937 million One Nevada Credit Union in Las Vegas, Nev., promoted Trudy McClain to SVP, retail operations. McClain joined One Nevada in 1996 and previously served as vice president of branch administration.
As SVP, retail operations, McClain will be responsible for facility leasing activities and future branch and ATM location planning, in addition to directing branch and contact center operations.
EAST
The $5.2 billion Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., hired two employees.
Kristian Diaz was hired as branch manager at the Chester, N.Y., location, which is opening later this year. With more than 20 years of banking experience, he will be responsible for the business development and overall operation of the new branch. With a strong background in accounting and finance, Diaz holds a master’s in business administration from the University of Scranton and bachelor’s in business administration from Baruch College.
Christian Trocki was also hired as branch manager.
Trocki will be responsible for business development and member service at the credit union’s new Windsor, N.Y., branch. He holds a bachelor’s of science degree from Pennsylvania State University and has extensive experience in both personal sales and staff management.
MIDWEST
The $744 million LAFCU in Lansing, Mich., appointed Jason Smith as chief lending officer. In this position, Smith serves as principal advisor to LAFCU’s president/CEO and board of directors concerning lending strategies and risk management. The 20-year veteran of credit unions joined LAFCU in 2018 when it merged with Lansing Postal Community Credit Union, of which Smith was CEO/general manager. He most recently served as vice president of product and strategy.
SOUTH
Sandra DeVoe Bland, board chair for the $1 billion SRP Federal Credit Union in North August, S.C., was inducted into the African-American Credit Union Coalition Hall of Fame on Aug. 7 at the AACUC’s 21st Annual Conference held in Charlotte, N.C. The AACUC is a non-profit organization of African-American professionals and volunteers in the credit union industry who work to increase the strength of the global credit union community. Bland has served on the board of SRP for over 20 years. She became the first African-American and first female chairman of the board of directors on March 6, 2018.
The $2.9 billion Apple Federal Credit Union in Fairfax, Va., hired Sharon Camper as chief people officer.
Camper has a diverse human resources career spanning more than 20 years. She joined the credit union industry in 2005 when she was hired at the $2 billion State Department Federal Credit Union in Alexandria, Va., in the role of managing director of human resources and administration, a role she has held for the past 14 years. Prior to her time with State Department FCU, Camper worked for Discovery Communications and Hecht’s Company.
The $659 million Freedom First Federal Credit Union in Roanoke, Va., hired James McKell as general counsel.
McKell has nine years of experience as a corporate attorney. A graduate of Wake Forest University and Duke Law, James earned degrees in philosophy and law.
