Riverdale, Utah-based America First Credit Union will become the official credit union of the Las Vegas Raiders professional football team, according to an announcement from the credit union.

The partnership also makes the credit union the team's official debit card partner and creates a program to support small business owners in Las Vegas. It officially begins when the Raiders start playing in the Las Vegas Allegiant Stadium during the 2020 football season.

"The Raiders and AFCU are both committed to excellence," AFCU president and CEO John Lund said. "We both are dedicated to engaging, growing, and supporting the community. This collaboration is the start of a long partnership that will strengthen our entire community." America First has $11.2 billion in assets and about one million members.

Under the terms of the agreement, the America First Foundation will also make a donation to the Raiders Foundation for every first down the team makes during the preseason and regular season.

The partnership is not America First's only presence in pro sports. The credit union also has partnership agreements with the Vegas Golden Knights professional hockey team, the Las Vegas Aviators minor league baseball team and the Las Vegas Lights professional soccer team.

Several other credit unions have also signed partnership agreements with professional sports teams in recent months.

For example, last December, Fort Washington, Penn.-based TruMark Financial Credit Union inked a new partnership to make it the official credit union of the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers. In that deal, the credit union said it would launch three co-branded credit cards with the basketball team. TruMark Financial has $2.3 billion in assets and about 121,000 members.

A month prior to that, St. Louis, Mo.-based American Eagle Credit Union announced a multi-year partnership with the St. Louis Blues hockey team that would create a new seating area at the city's Enterprise Center. Edwardsville, Ill.-based Scott Credit Union also announced a five-year deal with the team, which  would make that credit union's name and logo visible to fans though advertising in the Enterprise Center. Scott Credit Union has $1.3 billion in assets and about 144,000 members.

Sweetwater, Fla.-based Dade County Credit Union also entered into a multi-year partnership agreement with the NFL's Miami Dolphins last year. Also in 2018, Torrance, Calif.-based UNIFY Financial Credit Union announced a multiyear partnership with the Los Angeles Rams, and McLean, Va.-based PenFed Credit Union expanded its sponsorship deal with the Washington Nationals baseball team. Dade County Credit Union has $793 million in assets and about 98,000 members. UNIFY Financial has $3 billion in assets and about 257,000 members. PenFed has $24 billion in assets and about 1.8 million members.
