Y-12 FCU, Firefly CU, Hopewell FCU Reveal Employee Moves
Twelve professionals climb the career ladder, while a longtime CEO announces his retirement.
WEST
The $4.7 billion Redwood Credit Union in Santa Rosa, Calif., hired Lori Burleson as employee engagement manager. In her new role, Burleson is responsible for developing and facilitating events and communication plans that support employee engagement. By staying attuned to employee sentiment and goals, she’ll work to influence programs that empower employees, instill a sense of appreciation and remove barriers so they can perform meaningful and interesting work.
EAST
The $570 million MIT Federal Credit Union in Cambridge, Mass., announced the retirement of its long-standing president/CEO, Brian Ducharme. After 18 years of leading MIT FCU, Ducharme will be retiring from the credit union on Aug. 1. Under Ducharme’s leadership, MIT FCU has experienced strong growth, increasing membership from 13,000 to 37,000, and growing assets from $93 million to $570 million and loans from $65 million to $515 million.
The $597 million Sharon Credit Union in Sharon, Mass., announced Glenn Parsons was appointed as the new chairman of the board of the credit union. Parsons most recently served as vice chairman and has served on the board in many positions since 1990. He works with the International Entrepreneurship Center in Newton, Mass., and brings expertise in the fields of sales and technology software, hardware and network security.
MIDWEST
The $99 million Hopewell Federal Credit Union in Heath, Ohio hired two employees.
Christina Deardurff, a resident of Newark, Ohio, was hired as a teller. She graduated from Newark High School in Newark, Ohio in 2010. Prior to coming to work for Hopewell, she was employed as a security guard in Columbus, Ohio.
Adam Eberth, also a resident of Newark, Ohio, was hired as a teller. Eberth graduated from Newark High School in 2014. He is currently pursuing a degree in accounting and finance from Central Ohio Technical College in Newark, Ohio.
Prior to joining Hopewell, he spent six years serving as a crew trainer and maintenance technician for a local fast food establishment.
The $744 million LAFCU in Lansing, Mich., promoted two employees.
Justin Tuck was promoted to assistant vice president of operations. Tuck will be responsible for operations, including teller and lending functions as well as staff supervision, at the South Lansing and Collins Road branches, effective Aug. 12. He’ll also represent LAFCU in the community.
Amy Thelen was promoted to human resources generalist. Thelen came to LAFCU in 2015, most recently serving as a collector in the collections department.
She has additional relevant experience in the insurance industry and as a customer service representative for another credit union. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration at Central Michigan University, Mount Pleasant. As human resources generalist, Thelen will oversee recruiting, benefits administration and retiree relations.
The $1.3 billion Firefly Credit Union in Burnsville, Minn., hired Rajan Odayar as chief technology officer. He will serve on Firefly’s executive leadership team.
Odayar is a digital business transformation leader with experience in bringing business strategy and technology together to accomplish core business objectives for global organizations. An experienced leader, Rajan’s knowledge of digital and mobile platforms, application development, digital architecture, security and cloud infrastructure operations will help Firefly deliver innovative solutions to members and staff.
SOUTH
The $1.2 billion Y-12 Federal Credit Union in Oak Ridge, Tenn., announced five employee moves.
Michelle Shaffer was promoted from Powell branch manager to regional branch director. In her new role, she will have responsibility for administration and efficient operation of managing full-service branches within her region. Shaffer started her career in the financial services field 12 years ago when she began working for Y-12 as the assistant branch manager for the Sevierville branch.
Melanie Smith was promoted from Oak Ridge branch manager to regional branch director. In her new role, she will have responsibility for administration and efficient operation of managing full-service branches within her region. Smith has been employed at Y-12 for 20 years, where she began her career as a teller at the Oak Ridge branch.
Angie Doub was named branch manager for the Clinton 1-75 location. Doub has worked in the financial services field for 24 years and came to Y-12 12 years ago.
Amber Wyrick, an 18-year veteran at the credit union, was named branch manager for the Oak Ridge branch.
Jessica Conlon was promoted to floating staff manager. In her new role, she will work alongside the regional directors to ensure all staffing needs at each branch location are met. Conlon started her career at Y-12 12 years ago.
