Credit Union League of Connecticut has chosen a lawyer and former state financial regulator as its president/CEO.
Board Chair Michael Hinchey said Friday that Bruce Adams will join the league Aug. 19. Adams is now deputy commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services.
“Selected from a strong field of candidates, the board is excited that Bruce will be leading the next chapter of our success,” Hinchey said. “He brings an impressive blend of legal, policy, and business experience which will be extremely valuable to furthering the credit union movement in Connecticut.”
Adams, a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law, also served as general counsel to the state Department of Banking. In that role, he oversaw the agency’s enforcement activity, and supervised its government relations and consumer affairs unit.
The West Hartford resident serves on the board of the Henrietta B. and Frederick H. Bugher Foundation, which has provided over $40 million in donations for cardiovascular research.
Adams fills the job left vacant since May, when Jill Nowacki left after more than five years leading the organization.
The 94 credit unions based in Connecticut had $11.2 billion in assets, 906,442 members and 2,278 full-time employees in March, according NCUA data.
