American Heritage CU

Employees from the $2.5 billion American Heritage Credit Union in Philadelphia, Penn., attend the credit union’s 26th annual Gelatin Olympics for its Kids-N-Hope Foundation on June 12. The credit union raised $82,000 through its more than 140 sliders who dressed up in their most creative costumes and took the plunge into a pool full of 1,000 gallons of strawberry gelatin to help support the foundation. The Kids-N-Hope Foundation raises money to support child life services, specifically, music therapy programs at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and other local hospitals within American Heritage’s Workplace Partnership Program.

SPCA of Northern Nevada received $4,000 in donations from One Nevada’s annual spring shred event. The shredding service is free to the public, but donations were accepted benefiting SPCA of Northern Nevada. Reno, Nev., residents donated a record $1,990 for the safe shred of their unwanted documents. The event was so successful that One Nevada decided to round up and match the donation for a total contribution of $4,000 to SPCA. The donation will help SPCA of Northern Nevada in its mission to find pets a loving, “forever” home and provide low-cost spay/neuters to the community.

Massachusetts Credit Unions

GCS CU

Representatives from the $358 million GCS Credit Union in Granite City, Ill., present a $30,416 check donation to the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight. The money was raised during GCS’ Third Annual Tee Up Fore Veterans Golf Tournament at Stonewolf Golf Club in Fairview Heights. The mission of the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight is to recognize local veterans with a day of honor, remembrance and celebration. The veterans experience a one-day, all-expenses paid trip to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials that were built in their honor. GCS had a goal to raise $25,000 to fly an entire plane of veterans through the Greater St. Louis Honor Flight and exceeded that goal. This experience is provided at zero cost to veterans.
