The Minnesota Credit Union Network is honoring the legacy of Gene Carroll, former president/ CEO of the Pipefitters Steamfitters Credit Union in Woodbury, who served the credit union movement for more than 40 years.
Carroll, 77, passed away on June 1.
He was elected to numerous terms on the MnCUN board of directors from 1973 to 1996, serving two of those years as board chair.
Carroll also served on the Minnesota Item Processing Corporation (now TruLync) board of directors from its inception in 1994 to 2007. He also represented credit unions at the national level on CUNA’s board of directors from 1986 to 1992.
In 2001, Carroll received the Minnesota Credit Union Network’s Outstanding Professional of the Year Award in recognition of his time, effort and talent in supporting the credit union movement.
He retired in 2007.
“The Minnesota Credit Union Network staff and credit unions around the state will remember and honor Gene Carroll as a true leader,” Mark Cummins, MnCUN President/ CEO said. “His passion and involvement serve as an example to us all. We offer our sincere condolences to his family.”
Preceded in death by his wife, Delores; brothers, Jim and Ed, Carroll is survived by daughters, Ann, Julie, and seven grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Thursday. The family suggests friends make a memorial contribution of their choice.
