CU Professionals Leap Forward in Their Careers

CU professionals leap ahead.

WEST

The $479 million SkyOne Federal Credit Union in Hawthorne, Calif., hired two employees.

Shannon Doiron

Shannon Doiron was hired as chief marketing officer. In her new role, Doiron will oversee SkyOne’s marketing, business development and digital services teams. Doiron brings more than 30 years of experience managing marketing, sales and ecommerce across a diverse range of industries, including 16 successful years at a nearby credit union.

Amy Chambers

Amy Chambers was hired as COO. As COO, Chambers will oversee the credit union’s daily operations and member contact center, as well as its retail delivery team. Chambers has more than 18 years of experience within the financial services industry, bringing with her expertise in transforming member contact centers into high-performing teams that deliver exceptional service and create lasting member relationships.

Dennis Kingery

The $8.3 billion San Diego County Credit Union in San Diego, Calif., named Dennis Kingery EVP, operations and chief sales and service officer. Kingery joined SDCCU four years ago with extensive leadership experience in accounting and operations for many organizations, including financial institutions. Kingery is responsible for leading the organization’s payment systems, including items processing, cards and ACH. Additionally, he is responsible for member services (CDs and IRAs), and sales and service of SDCCU’s 43 branch locations in Orange, Riverside and San Diego counties, and the credit union’s two call centers in California and Arizona.

EAST

Elizabeth Pimentel

The $227 million Southern Mass Credit Union in Fairhaven, Mass., hired Elizabeth Pimentel as branch manager in the Fairhaven location. Pimentel has more than 18 years of retail banking and lending experience. In her most recent role, she served as mortgage loan officer for BayCoast Bank. Pimentel is a graduate of the New England College of Business and Finance, has a bachelor’s of arts in business management, and successfully completed an intensive program of studies at The New England School for Financial Studies.

William Guilfoil

The $508 million Bellwether Community Credit Union in Manchester, N.H., hired William P. Guilfoil as vice president of residential lending. With more than 20 years of residential and wholesale financing experience, Guilfoil oversees the credit union’s mortgage lending department, managing the operations of the loan department, including sales, processing, underwriting, applications and closings, and works to ensure customer needs are being met. Prior to joining Bellwether, Guilfoil was the sales and operations manager for Evolve Bank & Trust in Auburn, Mass.

MIDWEST

The $1 billion 7 17 Credit Union in Warren, Ohio promoted four employees.

Martin Gorbey

Martin Gorbey was named manager of the credit union’s newest branch in Canfield and has been with 7 17 for seven years. In his new position, he will oversee member service, while maintaining daily operations of the branch.

Shelly Corlew

Shelly Corlew was named personal experience department manager. She has been at the credit union for seven years. Corlew will manage, coordinate and control all activities and deliver consistently exceptional video service and accurate transaction handling to each member.

Kellie Nestor

Working alongside Corlew is Kellie Nestor, who was named assistant personal experience department manager. Nestor has been with the credit union for three years.

Stephanie Cunningham was named assistant TeleServices manager. She has worked at the credit union for seven years. In her new position, Cunningham will work with the department manager to direct the daily operations and formulate and direct the sales programs within the credit union’s call center.

SOUTH

Bruce Copeland

The $1 billion SAFE Federal Credit Union in Sumter, S.C., named Bruce Copeland vice president of marketing. Copeland joined SAFE FCU from the Charleston, S.C., area, where he most recently operated his own marketing consultancy, MarCom Advisors. His prior experience includes a 26-year tenure at First Federal (now South State Bank) where he served as SVP of marketing. He was also the vice president of marketing for the $569 million Fortera Credit Union in Clarksville, Tenn.

Eric R. Kase

The $1.5 billion A+ Federal Credit Union in Austin, Texas announced the appointment of Eric R. Kase as the credit union’s new president/CEO, effective July 1, 2019. Kase succeeds Kerry A.S. Parker, CPA, who will retire on June 30 after 20 years as president/CEO. Kase brings extensive experience in several areas of credit union leadership, including member services, retail operations, financial planning, risk management, strategic planning and performance management. He is a seasoned executive with more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry.

AGENCIES

Lenwood Brooks

The NCUA appointed H. Lenwood Brooks, V, to serve as assistant to the chairman and director of external affairs. Brooks joins the NCUA from the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, where he served as vice president of communications and led the trade association’s external affairs activities.
