8 Credit Unions, CUES Advance Professionals’ Careers

News of new hires and promotions pops up throughout the credit union industry this week.

CUs welcome new employees.

WEST

The $1.5 billion Columbia Credit Union in Vancouver, Wash., hired Brian Teegardin as a wealth management investment advisor available through CUSO Financial Services, L.P. In this position, Teegardin will help meet the growing demands of the credit union membership’s long-term savings, insurance, estate and retirement planning needs. Now in his 10th year in the financial services field, Teegardin will focus his local expertise on making life better for Columbia CU members.

Bobbie Warner

The $1.3 billion Oregon State Credit Union in Corvallis, Ore., promoted Bobbie Warner from assistant manager in accounting to assistant vice president for finance. Warner has been with Oregon State CU since August 2008, serving more than a decade in his previous management role in accounting. He began his 14 years of credit union industry experience immediately following college.

Erika Boulding

The $4.4 billion Redwood Credit Union in Santa Rosa, Calif., hired Erika Boulding as manager of its San Francisco branch at 1390 Market Street. In her new role, Boulding is responsible for overseeing member service, staff management and daily branch operations, as well as local community and business development efforts. Prior to joining RCU, Boulding was a branch manager for more than three years with the $3 billion, Torrance, Calif.-based Unify Financial Credit Union, and a branch manager and assistant vice president for more than six years with U.S. Bank.

Oliver Santini

The $1.9 billion Vantage West Credit Union in Tucson, Ariz., hired Oliver Santini as business development representative for the Phoenix market. As business development representative, Santini serves as a liaison to industry and civic groups, and an ambassador to sponsored groups and associations. He is responsible for offering the Vantage West @ Work Program and financial literacy to employees of businesses within the competitive market.

EAST

Wendy Cetta

The $1.1 billion Suffolk Federal Credit Union in Medford, N.Y., promoted Wendy Cetta to director of support services. Cetta is located at the Medford branch, ensures that all areas within support services are running properly and troubleshoots any issues that may arise as quickly as possible. She joined Suffolk Federal in 2000 as a call center representative and most recently served as manager of support services.

MIDWEST

Robyn Jones

The $694 million LAFCU in Lansing, Mich., promoted Robyn Jones from human resources manager to vice president of human resources. As vice president of human resources, Jones is responsible for developing, implementing and administering personnel policies and procedures; overseeing training and development, benefits administration, payroll and recruiting; and assisting with employee and union relations, among other responsibilities.

Joe Messenger

The $392 million INOVA Federal Credit Union in Elkhart, Ind., promoted Joseph Messenger to CFO. Messenger has been with INOVA for 13 years, most recently serving as SVP of finance and accounting. Messenger is a graduate of Indiana University with a bachelor’s of accounting degree, and has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry.

SOUTH

Kim Alderman

The $2.4 billion Truliant Federal Credit Union in Winston-Salem, N.C., named Kim Alderman director of mortgage services. In this role, Alderman will be responsible for management of Truliant’s mortgage services department, with responsibility for the overall leadership, performance, growth, administration and strategic direction. Alderman joined Truliant in August 2016 as regional director for member financial centers in Truliant’s central region, where she led and supervised locations.

The $83 million Space City Credit Union in Houston, Texas hired one employee and promoted another.

Vincent Chitolie

Vincent Chitolie was hired as accounting manager. Chitolie has extensive experience in accounting and management. He has developed his skills over the years in the oil and gas, retail banking and health care sectors. He holds a bachelor’s of science degree in accounting and business administration from Strayer University.

Paula Newkirk

Paula Newkirk was promoted to vice president of lending and collections. Newkirk previously served as member solutions supervisor where she managed both the lending and collection teams. She has been with Space City since 2007.

TRADES

Nanci Wilson

CUES hired Nanci Wilson, CUDE, as membership manager. Wilson previously worked at the $34 million, Grand Forks, N.D.-based University Federal Credit Union in marketing and campus outreach, where she conducted financial education for students and staff at the university. Her previous work experience also includes the $299 million, Maddock, N.D.-based North Star Community Credit Union, where she held the positions of member service manager, and training and development director.
