The Senate Banking Committee late Thursday announced it will hold a confirmation hearing on the nominations of Rodney Hood and Todd Harper for seats on the NCUA board on Feb. 14.

The scheduled hearing could be a sign that Banking Chairman Mike Crapo (R-Id.) hopes to move on the nominations quickly.

Senators often attempt to pair nominees in an effort to ease confirmation. Hood is a Republican and Harper is a Democrat.

Hood was nominated during the last Congress, but at the time, President Trump did not nominate a Democrat. Sources said that was the reason the nomination stalled.

Only two members of the NCUA board may belong to the president's political party. NCUA board Chairman J. Mark McWatters is a Republican.

The Feb. 14 hearing also will include the nominations of Bimal Patel as an assistant secretary of the Treasury Department and Mark Calabria to head the Federal Housing Finance Agency.
