Todd Harper Nominated for NCUA Board
President Trump announces his intention to fill the NCUA board seat with an agency veteran.
President Trump Friday announced he will nominate Todd M. Harper to serve on the NCUA board.
Harper, a Democrat, will fill the remainder of a six-year term which expires on April 10, 2021.
Harper is extremely familiar with the agency and the credit union community; from 2011 to 2017, he directed the NCUA’s Office of Public and Congressional Affairs and served as the chief policy officer to the board chairman.
Before that, he served as staff director of the House Capital Markets, Insurance and Government Sponsored Enterprises. He worked on Dodd-Frank following the financial crisis and as legislative director for former Rep. Paul Kanjorski (D-Pa.).
He holds a Master’s degree in public policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and a B.S. in business analysis from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.
Harper’s nomination is likely to ease the way for Senate his confirmation, as well as confirmation of Rodney Hood’s nomination to the board.
Sources have said that that Senate leaders would prefer to pair nominations—one from each party—to ensure the votes necessary for confirmation.
