Coastal Outsourced Solutions, Sharonview FCU Announce New Hires
Three credit unions, two CUSOs and a fintech unveil People news this week.
WEST
Michelle Berridge, controller for Alvarez Technology Group, joined the all-volunteer supervisory committee at the $976 million Bay Federal Credit Union in Capitola, Calif. The supervisory committee evaluates the policies and procedures in place at the credit union to ensure they properly protect members’ assets, and is charged with selecting an independent licensed auditor to perform a review of the credit union’s financial condition each year. Berridge has decades of experience in accounting after having worked across a number of industries, including entertainment, manufacturing, distribution, non-profits and technology.
MIDWEST
Teri Ortgies, COO at the $648 million Community 1st Credit Union in Ottumwa, Iowa, will retire Nov. 9, 2018 following a career of more than 27 years at the credit union. Ortgies was named COO in 2016, a move that capped her Community 1st service, which began in January 1991. She started as a part-time teller, then rose through the ranks to become branch manager, director of branch operations, SVP of retail operations and COO. Ortgies participated in the launch of every new branch since Oskaloosa was opened as the credit union’s first location outside of Ottumwa in 1994.
SOUTH
The $1.5 billion Sharonview Federal Credit Union in Fort Mill, S.C., hired two employees.
David Brand was hired as vice president of consumer lending. Brand has more than 16 years of experience in the financial services industry. He most recently served as assistant vice president of loan origination at the $4.8 billion Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. In his new role, Brand will collaborate with department heads and the executive leadership team to ensure the organization’s origination and underwriting strategies align properly with its loss mitigation and risk management controls.
Tobey Eskew was hired as vice president of finance. With 19 years of industry experience, Eskew brings extensive knowledge to the team while enhancing Sharonview’s financial services in South Carolina. Eskew will be responsible for the development of Sharonview’s financial management strategies and contribute to the development of the organization’s strategic goals. Prior to joining the Sharonview team, Eskew was chief accounting officer at Hamilton State Bank.
CUSOs
CU*NorthWest, a 100% credit union-owned cooperative CUSO, hired Marsha Sapino as its new client services manager. Sapino has worked in the credit union industry for the past 20 years, most recently years as the assistant manager in the AuditLink division at CU*Answers, where she worked for the last six years. With Sapino’s existing experience on the CU*BASE core suite and with relationships across the cuasterisk.com network, she is uniquely qualified to lead the CUSO’s service teams.
Coastal Outsourced Solutions, a subsidiary CUSO of the $741 million First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union in Fairhaven, Mass., announced four new additions to its senior management team.
Andrea Vieira was appointed vice president of sales and business development. Vieira has spent 10 years in the auto industry as a finance manager and eight years as a dealer relationship manager for a financial institution. In her new role, Vieira will oversee all dealer relationships for Coastal clients as well as the sales and business development function for all Coastal sales and services. She graduated from UMass Dartmouth with a degree in accounting.
Monica Medeiros was appointed senior director, consumer operations. In this role, Medeiros will be responsible for all consumer lending operation functions for all of Coastal’s clients. She was previously employed by First Citizens’ for 12 years, where she grew within the company from banking associate to her most recent role as director/investor relations specialist.
Michael Smith was appointed senior director, default and payment solutions. Smith will be responsible for client implementation and support for Coastal’s collection, recovery and payment solution offerings as well as the oversight of the managed assets group. Prior to this role, he worked for various financial institutions, where he worked his way up from residential portfolio representative to servicing support manager followed by director of implementation and client relations.
Jesse Mcsweeney was appointed vice president, operations. Mcsweeney is responsible for the oversight of the loan operations team and development of Coastal’s compliance/quality control program. He will also be the liaison to the IT, human resources and accounting departments for Coastal’s parent company. He was previously employed by Homesite Insurance Company as the senior project manager within the IT team.
VENDORS
Fintech startup LenderClose hired Dan Davis to join its growing team as director of technology. Davis will apply his knowledge of technology integration and experience in the community financial institution space to further develop LenderClose’s strategic technology investments, oversee product development and manage the startup’s programming staff. During the past 17 years, Davis worked in the IT departments of three Midwest credit unions.
