Credit Unions Professionals Move Up the Ranks

First Entertainment CU and Firefly CU are among the credit unions naming new executives and managers this week.

WEST

Wilson Tengnguyen

The $4.4 billion Redwood Credit Union in Santa Rosa, Calif., promoted Wilson Tengnguyen to manager of its Mill Valley branch at 695 E. Blithedale Avenue. In his new role, Tengnguyen is responsible for overseeing member service, staff management and daily branch operations, as well as local community and business development efforts. Tengnguyen has been with RCU for seven years and has been promoted several times, holding various member service positions prior to becoming assistant branch manager in Mill Valley and now Mill Valley branch manager.

Alex Garza

The $2.2 billion Numerica Credit Union in Spokane Valley, Wash., hired Alex Garza as branch manager for the Sylvester Branch in Pasco. Garza has over seven years of experience in loan servicing and branch management. His most recent position was as a branch manager at U.S. Bank. Garza has a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Washington State University.

Anthony Restivo

The $1.5 billion First Entertainment Credit Union in Hollywood, Calif., named Anthony Restivo chief retail officer. Restivo’s credit union experience and expertise in retail delivery will be a valuable asset to the executive team at First Entertainment. His passion for leadership, technology and operations will help First Entertainment continue to be the premier financial resource for those in the entertainment and visual arts industry. As the former vice president of retail delivery at the $2.5 billion Premier America Credit Union in Chatsworth, Calif., Restivo was responsible for leading teams in branch sales, service, digital banking, contact management and community development.

EAST

Deb White-Rideout

The $296 million University Credit Union in Orono, Maine, promoted Deb White-Rideout to EVP. She oversees statewide operations and human resources for the credit union. White-Rideout joined University CU and the credit union movement in 2005 after a decade-long career in human resources and management with a national bank, and before that worked in management for a major nationwide retailer. Originally hired as University CU’s human resource manager, she was soon promoted to vice president of operations in 2006.

MIDWEST

Julie Kreinbring

The $603 million Zeal Credit Union in Livonia, Mich., hired Julie Kreinbring as EVP and chief strategy officer. Kreinbring brings more than 25 years of industry experience, having held senior leadership positions with other credit unions as interim CEO, EVP/COO and CFO. In addition to Kreinbring’s extensive credit union background, she is currently chair of member student lending.

The $1.2 billion Firefly Credit Union in Burnsville, Minn., hired two employees.

Dale Turner

Dale Turner was named president/CEO, effective in November. Turner’s experience spans several financial institutions. He currently serves as EVP/chief sales and service officer for the $8.4 billion San Diego County Credit Union in San Diego, Calif. Among his responsibilities is defining and driving consumer-centric financial solutions through SDCCU’s 43 branch locations, call centers and the organization’s team members. Turner has local roots, working several years in Minnesota, and growing up and attending school in the Midwest.

Mike Elliott

Mike Elliott was hired as Lakeville retail sales manager. Elliott comes to Firefly with 15 years of financial experience, nine of which were in a managerial role. His former positions include personal banker, assistant branch manager and branch manager at financial institutions in Minnesota. In his new role, Elliott will lead the Lakeville branch in living out Firefly’s core values and building trusting relationships with members.

SOUTH

Bill Andrews

William (Bill) Andrews joined the board of directors at the $4.7 billion Redstone Federal Credit Union in Huntsville, Ala., effective Aug. 31, 2018. The appointment fills a vacancy left by the June resignation of Nancy Walker due to health reasons, and prior to her passing in late August. Andrews has been an active member of the credit union since 1985. He first began his volunteer board service in 2013 where he was appointed to Redstone’s Member Connections Committee.

Atticus Simpson

The $2.3 billion Truliant Federal Credit Union in Winston-Salem, N.C. named Atticus Simpson to the newly-created role of director of community affairs and business partnership development. Simpson will be responsible for strategic oversight, management and development of Truliant’s community engagement, outreach, state governmental affairs and workplace benefits program, Truliant At Work. Additionally, he will develop and maintain a foundation that supports community causes aligned with Truliant’s mission.

AGENCIES

Arlene Babwah

Arlene Babwah, vice president of risk management at the $3 billion Coastal Credit Union in Raleigh, N.C., was appointed to the CFPB’s Credit Union Advisory Council. The Credit Union Advisory Council is one of four advisory groups, and guides the bureau on regulating consumer financial products or services. She will serve a one-year term. She has been with the credit union for 13 years, and has experience in risk management, wealth management and teller center operations.
