Credit Unions, PSCU, NCUA Welcome New Hires

This past week, eight credit unions, PSCU and the NCUA revealed news about career moves at their organizations. Check out the latest People news here.

WEST

Dawnyel Ray

The $917 million Greater Nevada Credit Union in Carson City, Nev., named Dawnyel Ray branch manager of its Dayton Branch. Ray joins GNCU with more than seven years of banking experience, including previous roles as assistant branch manager and personal banker. She also has six years of management experience within the car rental business.

Jeff Parong

The $964 million Los Angeles Federal Credit Union in Glendale, Calif., hired Jeff Parong as SVP/CFO. He succeeded former LAFCU CFO Richard Lie, who was promoted to president/CEO. Parong has more than 17 years of credit union industry experience including financial and business management, auditing, asset liability management, strategic planning, financial analysis and risk management.

MIDWEST

Jeff Lundgren

The $1.7 billion Corporate Central Credit Union in Muskego, Wis., and its technology CUSO, Emergifi, welcomed Jeff Lundgren to the team as a cloud migration engineer. Lundgren will provide members with design, installation, migration, and support services for cloud solutions. He will also work to determine business and technical requirements, identify appropriate technology solutions, and provide ongoing technical support for new and existing members. Lundgren brings 30 years of IT engineering experience to Corporate Central.

Kevin Paul

The $1.7 billion Advia Credit Union in Parchment, Mich., hired Kevin Paul as a financial advisor. Paul is a registered representative of CUNA Brokerage Services, Inc. and will be serving clients throughout southwest Michigan. He brings more than 20 years of experience to the position, including estate planning, business retirement plans and individual retirement planning.

Andy Deans

The $1.1 billion Hiway Federal Credit Union in St. Paul, Minn., promoted Andy Deans to mortgage servicing manager. Deans joined Hiway in 2003. In addition to his most recent activities in business development, young professionals groups, and other internal and external committees, he brings his previous experience as a mortgage processor, mortgage advisor and senior servicing specialist to the mortgage teams.

SOUTH

Priscilla Awkard

The $3 billion Coastal Credit Union in Raleigh, N.C., announced Priscilla Awkard, Coastal’s vice president, teller center, was elected president of the Southern Regional Chapter of the African American Credit Union Coalition. She has been active in AACUC since 2017. AACUC is a non-profit organization of African American credit union professionals and volunteers. Its mission is to increase diversity within the credit union community through advocacy and professional development. Awkard has worked at the credit union since 2011.

Fred Salyers

The $9.5 billion Security Service Federal Credit Union in San Antonio, Texas, promoted Fred Salyers to vice president of governmental and military affairs. In this role, Salyers directs legislative affairs for the credit union at the local, state and federal levels. He also directs all matters pertaining to Security Service’s military membership and the military community. In addition, Salyers serves on NAFCU’s Legislative Committee. Salyers joined Security Service in 2013 as a community and corporate development manager and has since held positions as senior manager of business development and assistant vice president of governmental and military affairs.

Andrea McCarren

Andrea McCarren, a Washington, D.C., television journalist, is moving from WUSA9 (CBS) to the $23.6 billion Pentagon Federal Credit Union in Tysons, Va., to lead the company’s new digital division. McCarren will begin in January 2019 as vice president and chief content officer for PenFed Digital, which will highlight the inspiring work of veterans, active duty service members, military families and the national defense community. McCarren is a nationally recognized journalist whose work has been honored with 22 Emmy Awards and numerous other awards.

CUSOs

PSCU promoted Dean Young to EVP, chief experience officer. In this new role, Young will be responsible for leading cross-company collaboration efforts to create the strategy, design, engagement and execution of the CUSO’s member experience, as well as provide an added focus on service excellence and improvement initiatives for all stakeholders. Additionally, he will oversee all marketing and communications efforts. Young joined the CUSO in 2005 and has held numerous leadership positions in account management, service delivery and industry engagement.

AGENCIES

The NCUA selected Robert Foster as chief information officer, effective Oct. 14. Foster has served as the agency’s deputy chief information officer since August 2017. Prior to coming to the NCUA, Foster served as chief information officer with the Department of the Navy, acting as the senior official and advisor on a variety of matters relating to information management, resources and technology. Foster previously served as deputy chief information officer at the Department of Health and Human Services and at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 2007, after a 21-year career.
