CU Professionals Move Up the Ranks

Seven credit unions announce promotions and new hires.

CU executives take steps up the career ladder.

Credit union professionals took steps up the career ladder this past week, with seven credit unions across the nation announcing a variety of staff changes including new hires and promotions.

WEST

The $700 million Clark County Credit Union in Las Vegas, Nev., announced two position changes in its commercial lending department.

Josh Haldeman

Josh Haldeman was promoted from vice president of commercial lending to chief lending officer. Haldeman has been growing and developing a commercial and industrial lending culture within the credit union, and in his new position, he will continue to create new and competitive lending programs for Clark County CU members.

Daniel Reese

Daniel Reese will take over the position of vice president of commercial lending. Reese will maintain Clark County CU’s commercial lending portfolio, listen to members’ needs and answer their questions about commercial credit and lending.

EAST

Alycia Straughn

The $151 million Homefield Credit Union in North Grafton, Mass., promoted Alycia Straughn to assistant vice president, market manager – Milford. Straughn, who joined Homefield in October 2017 as a mortgage loan officer, will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Milford branch and continue to be the main point of contact for all mortgage referrals within the Milford market. Straughn has worked for more than 19 years in the Milford banking community. During that time, she has specialized in residential and consumer lending, and retail banking.

MIDWEST

The $162 million Service One Credit Union in Bowling Green, Ky., promoted three employees.

Michelle Dyer was promoted to vice president, human resources and organizational development. Dyer joined Service One in 2017 as director of education. She has 13 years of human resources and training and development experience with 10 years in a leadership role. Dyer currently holds a part-time faculty position at Western Kentucky University teaching human resources management and leadership courses.

Justin Morris was promoted to vice president of enterprise risk management and member support. In his new position, he will champion the organization’s risk management efforts while providing exceptional member service through his member support team. He joined Service One as a part-time teller in 2005 and has since moved up in the ranks. He most recently served four years as assistant vice president of compliance and security.

Mark Floyd was promoted to chief credit officer. Floyd previously served as vice president of lending where he helped grow the loan portfolio by simplifying some of our loan offerings. He has more than 19 years of financial institution experience in branch management, consumer lending, mortgage lending, commercial lending and loan portfolio management.

The $1.5 billion Evansville Teachers Federal Credit Union in Evansville, Ind., made two key additions to its management team.

Andy Martin

Andy Martin was named vice president of commercial lending, and will oversee all staff and functions of the group. The Illinois State University graduate spent 15 years with Old National Bancorp, rising to commercial lender vice president in Evansville. Martin is active in the community, serving on the boards of the Boys and Girls Club, Arc of Evansville, Evansville Bond Bank and the Southern Indiana Builders Association.

Kristen Koewler

Kristen Koewler was named director of compliance. Her responsibilities include monitoring changes in laws, regulations and examination trends, communicating the changes to all affected areas of the credit union, and reviewing new products and programs for compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. She will also assist the training department in compliance training and serve as liaison with state and federal regulatory agencies.

Josh Peterson

The $2.3 billion Royal Credit Union based in Eau Claire, Wis., named Josh Peterson branch manager of the New Richmond office. His responsibilities will include ensuring the branch meets financial, operational and growth goals, as well as overseeing daily actions. Peterson brings several years of financial experience from previous institutions to the position. He has held a variety of positions including five years as a teller and mini-district manager at U.S. Bank and most recently, four years as branch manager and premier banker with BMO Harris Bank.

Lorie Owen

The $2.6 billion United Federal Credit Union in St. Joseph, Mich. promoted Lorie Owen to regional market development manager. In her new role, she will be responsible for maintaining and growing new relationships and will provide quality business deposit account and lending expertise through financial counseling and product awareness. Lorie has been with UFCU since 2001, most recently as branch manager in Niles, Mich., but also serving over the years as a collector, collections manager, assistant branch manager and branch manager in Benton Harbor and Buchanan, Mich.

SOUTH

Stacy Armijo

The $934 million Amplify Credit Union in Austin, Texas, hired Stacy Armijo as chief experience officer. In this newly-created role, she will lead teams to weave together the online and offline experiences that drive exceptional service for Amplify members and steward the branding, marketing, public relations and social impact initiatives that connect Central Texans to the credit union.
