Solar panel loans for churches.

Churches often have major financial needs, but historically banks viewed them as risky borrowers.

Based in Montclair, Calif., United Methodist FCU was formed 70 years ago to serve the needs of Methodist churches across the country. Over the years, the credit union has expanded its reach to other Christian denominations and recently joined forces with the United Methodist Church to help get individual congregation members in financial straits out from under high-interest payday lenders.

The new program features church-secured loans to help members consolidate debt and repair their credit. This is the fourth stop on the CU Times Credit Union Nation tour – Southern California.
