Seven credit unions announce new hires and promotions.

EAST

Laurie Rehwinkle

The $1 billion Suffolk Federal Credit Union in Medford, N.Y., hired Laurie Rehwinkle as assistant vice president of lending at its Medford branch. In this position, Rehwinkle is responsible for managing the credit union’s consumer lending division, which includes all aspects of consumer loan processing, underwriting, loan operations, lending initiatives and functions. She also provides leadership, mentoring and training to all lending staff at the credit union. Rehwinkle has nearly 40 years of lending experience.

MIDWEST

The $162 million Service One Credit Union in Bowling Green, Ky., named Anthony Spitz as chief technology and operations officer. Spitz comes to the credit union from Heritage Federal Credit Union, where he served as chief information and technology officer for two years. Prior to his time there, Spitz worked for United Companies, most recently in the role of senior director of information technology. During his career, Spitz has held numerous technical roles and amassed over 20 years of experience in the field of IT.

The $4.3 billion Wright-Patt Credit Union in Beavercreek, Ohio, hired two employees.

Kim Riley

Kim Riley was hired as vice president of service delivery. Riley brings a strong background in service delivery, operational excellence, process improvement and information technology. She brings 29 years of leadership experience to the position. For the past 12 years, she held positions in operational excellence and service operations at CareSource. She also held leadership positions at KeyBank and Standard Register that focused on contact center operations and information technology.

Daniel G. Smith

Daniel G. Smith was hired as CFO. Smith has more than 25 years of leadership experience in multiple consumer finance areas. Most recently, he was at Fifth Third Bank for more than eight years, with assignments including capital planning coordination for the Consumer Bank, pricing and balance sheet forecasting, and financial decision support for the retail banking and consumer lending business units. Prior to Fifth Third, Smith served at KeyBank for 20 years in various positions.

The $789 million Marine Credit Union in La Crosse, Wis., announced two additions to its leadership team.

Joe Wuensch

Joe Wuensch was hired as director of information technology. Wuensch’s leadership in IT will include business process management, equipment inventory management, PC and network security, data storage and retention, customer satisfaction for IT service and assisting with the budgeting process. He has more than 25 years of experience in IT, 10 of those years in IT management. Wuensch’s previous career experience includes more than 20 years at Ingersoll Rand in La Crosse.

Amy Danielson

Amy Danielson was promoted to human capital, payroll and benefits manager. Danielson joined Marine in October 2015 as an executive administrative assistant. In her new role, she will provide human resources leadership and support in the areas of benefits, payroll, HRIS administration and human resources data analysis. Danielson has 10 years of experience in corporate wellness and benefits coordination, and is also a certified health education specialist.

Bill Beckman

The $2.6 billion United Federal Credit Union in St. Joseph, Mich., promoted Bill Beckman to branch manager at its Buchanan, Mich., branch. In his new role, he will be responsible for business development within the community, membership engagement and positive public relations. He will also be tasked with maintaining the performance of the branch. Beckman has been with UFCU since 2013, previously serving as ecommerce sales and service outbound sales manager in St. Joseph, Mich., since 2016.

SOUTH

Gabriela Hernandez

The $55 million Heritage USA Federal Credit Union in Midland, Texas, hired Gabriela Hernandez as loan officer and branch manager of the Big Spring Office. Hernandez has 19 years of banking and mortgage experience, working primarily in the mortgage area until 2013, and then primarily in consumer and indirect lending since then.

The $23.6 billion Pentagon Federal Credit Union in Tysons, Va., promoted two top executives.

Lisa Jennings

Lisa Jennings was promoted from senior EVP to first senior EVP. Jennings, who has been with PenFed for 34 years, will be responsible for corporate strategy and policy, the credit risk group, human resources, corporate security, and enterprise data and business intelligence. In addition, a new group, the corporate project management office, will be added to strategy and policy. Jennings has previously held positions of EVP and COO, EVP and CFO, and the chief audit executive at PenFed.

Shashi Vohra

Shashi Vohra was promoted from EVP and president of affiliated businesses to senior EVP and president of affiliated businesses. Vohra, who has been with PenFed for 38 years, will be responsible for marketing, corporate and business development, all consumer loans and deposits, and all affiliated businesses including Berkshire Hathaway Home Services PenFed Realty, PenFed Title and CU Rate Reset. In addition, Vohra will oversee PenFed’s digital transformation and establish a new division of commercial banking.
