Coca-Cola CU, Columbia CU, First New York FCU Hire Talent
Eight credit unions and one CUSO announce People news this week.
Eight credit unions across the nation ended June with new hires and promotions. Plus, CUSO Michigan Business Connection hired one employee and promoted another.
WEST
The $156 million Spokane Federal Credit Union in Spokane, Wash., promoted two employees.
Eric Tipton was promoted to accounting manager. Tipton previously held the position of assistant controller and has been with the credit union since 2008.
Megan Shover was promoted to vice president of administration. Shover previously served as human resources director and has been with the credit union since 2014.
The $1.3 billion Columbia Credit Union in Vancouver, Wash., welcomed two new employees in vice president positions.
Carmen Dompier was hired as vice president of lending operations. She is responsible for overseeing accurate and efficient systems and teams for loan onboarding, maintenance and processing for the credit union’s direct and indirect loans, including credit cards, personal loans, lines of credit and real estate-secured loans. Dompier has more than 12 years of experience in loan operations management.
Dan Souvenir was hired as the Ridgefield vice president branch manager. Souvenir has more than 25 years of experience. He previously served as vice president at Umpqua Bank and Washington Mutual Bank. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Central Washington University and is a graduate of CBA Banking School’s Executive Leadership program.
EAST
The $326 million First New York Federal Credit Union in Albany, N.Y., hired Thomas Phillips as vice president of lending. Thomas began his career with HSBC Bank, and through mergers, also worked at First Niagara and KeyBank. At KeyBank, he was vice president, area retail leader, where he directed sales, service and financial operations spanning 12 branches.
The $287 million University Credit Union in Orono, Maine, appointed Eric Byther as facilities manager for its nine statewide retail locations, including three on-campus branches, and its loan operations center. Byther has more than 30 years of experience in commercial and residential construction, the majority of those years spent as a business owner. In this role, Byther will be responsible for all UCU facilities around the state, overseeing building maintenance, capital expense planning and facilities-related vendor management for one of the largest credit unions in Maine.
MIDWEST
The $667 million LAFCU in Lansing, Mich., promoted Ryan Larson to the newly-created position of director of professional services, with a specific focus on streamlining processes and developing member-focused solutions. Larson is a two-time LAFCU employee, having been recruited back to the growing organization for a second stint. He initially joined LAFCU in 2012 as senior member service representative working at the DeWitt branch and then at the credit union’s contact center.
The $1 billion 7 17 Credit Union in Warren, Ohio hired two employees.
Mary Ann King was hired as information technology manager. In her new position, she will be responsible for ensuring the streamlined operation of the information technology department. King has a bachelor of applied science degree in computer technology from Youngstown State University and brings with her a variety of technology experience.
Wendy Talley was hired as training and development manager. In her role, Talley will be responsible for establishing a vision, strategy and action plan for all organizational learning to develop an innovative, high-performance workplace and establish a learning culture. Talley earned a bachelor of arts degree in business management from Hiram College. She is also a graduate of Bowling Green State University’s Executive Master of Organization Development Program.
The $2 billion Corporate Central Credit Union in Muskego, Wis., hired Kathy Westphal as product manager and business analyst. She will manage business, IT and cross-competency teams, completing tasks related to product development, business process improvement and business case development, as well as the documentation and management of application requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
SOUTH
The $200 million Coca-Cola Credit Union in Atlanta hired Vikki Sifuentes as EVP. Sifuentes has more than 27 years of experience in the financial industry. Sifuentes will be responsible for all revenue-producing departments. She will be instrumental in the development of the credit union’s long-term financial planning, programs and strategies.
CUSOs
Michigan Business Connection, a CUSO that underwrites and services commercial loans for financial institutions statewide, hired one employee and promoted another.
Kaitlyn Lawson was hired as a credit analyst. In her role, Lawson will focus on underwriting new small business requests and offering support to the underwriting and portfolio management departments. Lawson began her career in financial services working as a financial analyst for Superior Capital and then as a commercial underwriter at Comerica.
Aleem Bajwa joined MBC earlier in 2018, first as a financial analyst intern, then subsequently was promoted to his current position of financial analyst. In this role, Bajwa analyzes credit and financial data and prepares data for credit analysts and portfolio managers. Bajwa will be graduating from Eastern Michigan University this August with a bachelor’s degree in finance.
