Nine credit unions across the country kicked off summer 2018 with a number of personnel announcements, including newly-created positions, board appointments, new hires and promotions. Check out the latest People news here.
WEST
The $700 million Clark County Credit Union in Las Vegas hired Nicole Johnson as a social media coordinator. As the first social media coordinator with the credit union, her main responsibilities will be creating and maintaining social media pages and profiles, as well as assisting with other communications and marketing activities. She will also build and execute social media strategies designed to help reach new CCCU members through research, benchmarking, messaging and audience identification.
The $444 million UNCLE Credit Union in Livermore, Calif., hired Ted Huntington as vice president of marketing. The addition of this key leadership position marks the first executive hire since the credit union expanded its branch network with two strategic mergers in January and March of 2018. Huntington will oversee both the marketing and business development teams in creating and executing strategies to deepen member engagement, enhance brand loyalty, build market awareness and grow membership. He is a marketing executive with more than 25 years of experience.
MIDWEST
The board of directors of the $2.1 billion Nusenda Credit Union in Albuquerque, N.M., elected new board leadership.
Ann Brooks, who has served as the board’s vice chair, will serve as the board’s new chair, succeeding Judy Cartmell.
The board also accepted the resignation of board member Dick Brown, a lifelong New Mexican who served on the credit union’s board for 30 years. Brown also worked as an educator and school administrator in Albuquerque for 35 years. Current Nusenda Supervisory Board Member Randy Trask was appointed by the credit union’s board to serve out the remainder of Brown’s term. Trask is founder and president of the New Mexico Trade Alliance and has been on the supervisory board since 2015.
The $1.2 billion Firefly Credit Union in Burnsville, Minn., hired Neil Bonneson to its team of Firefly advisors, who are registered representatives of CUNA Brokerage Services. Bonneson comes to Firefly with more than 17 years of experience in the financial services industry and will help serve members at Firefly’s Bloomington, Chanhassen, Maple Grove and Shakopee branch locations in his new role.
SOUTH
The $673 million Gulf Winds Federal Credit Union in Pensacola, Fla., hired Angel Merced as credit card portfolio manager. Previously, Merced worked as a director of operations for MasterCard Worldwide, and most recently as the managing director at Expert Management Partners, LLC. He studied at the University of Puerto Rico, University of the Sacred Heart and American Institute of Banking and has a background in mathematics, information technology and banking.
The $2.3 billion Truliant Federal Credit Union in Winston-Salem, N.C., named Lis Mulcahy to the newly created role of digital channel manager. In this position, Mulcahy will be responsible for leading Truliant’s Digital Experience Team. The team will identify and implement solutions to members’ needs in the digital space, then execute Truliant’s strategy within the digital banking channel. Mulcahy brings extensive experience in retail channel management, having grown loans and deposits, developed teams through targeted training and coaching and implemented new offerings such as online account opening in prior professional roles.
The $4.1 billion Space Coast Credit Union in Melbourne, Fla., hired Patrick Wood as director of accounting. In his new role, Wood will oversee the credit union’s general and operational accounting functions. Wood brings more than 20 years of accounting experience in financial reporting, analysis, forecasting, budgeting and internal controls for retail, banking, distribution, manufacturing and real estate organizations. He comes to SCCU from Southern National Bancorp of Virginia, Inc., where he most recently served as corporate controller.
The $2.1 billion Atlanta Postal Credit Union in Atlanta promoted two employees.
Ashley Kelley was promoted to vice president of enterprise risk management at APCU. Kelley, who began working for the credit union in 2011, assisted in the establishment and development of the ERM department at APCU. She served as ERM analyst and compliance specialist prior to her current role as ERM manager.
Greg Jamison was promoted to loan servicing manager. He began working at the credit union in September 1986. In his 31 years at APCU, Jamison has worked in numerous roles including as a consumer lending representative, collections representative, mortgage loan officer, mortgage manager and most recently, consumer loan manager.
The $404 million Five Star Credit Union in Dothan, Ala., hired Keith McAnulty as member business loan sales manager. McAnulty, who has more than 33 years of experience in the financial services industry, will oversee the business lending department. For the past 11 years, McAnulty served as vice president in the business banking department for Ameris Bank where he worked closely with commercial customers throughout the Wiregrass.
