Former CU Branch Manager Indicted for Theft

Indictment charges Scott Breaux stole $122,000.

Indictment handed down for a former credit union employee.

Scott Breaux will be arraigned next week in New Orleans federal court on a felony theft charge that accuses the former branch manager for allegedly stealing $122,000 from the $364 million ASI Federal Credit Union.

The 39-year-old Louisiana man, who joined the Harahan-based credit union in 2011, was named manager of ASI’s Westwego, La. branch in 2014.

According to the indictment filed by federal prosecutors in U.S. District Court on May 10, Breaux began his alleged theft in November 2016 and it continued through July 2017 after he was named manager of ASI’s uptown branch.

He was fired on July 20, 2017.

In court documents, federal prosecutors did not reveal how the theft was discovered or how Breaux managed to steal funds from the credit union.

During the scheduled May 21 court arraignment, Breaux may or may not enter a plea.
