7 Credit Unions Hire & Promote Talent
Credit unions announcing People news this week include Hughes FCU, Homefield CU and United FCU.
This past week, seven credit unions from coast to coast revealed news about new hires and promotions. Read on for the latest People news.
WEST
The $1.1 billion Hughes Federal Credit Union in Tucson, Ariz., promoted Dani Durnal Gomez to marketing manager, business development and community relations. Durnal Gomez first joined Hughes in 2015 as a business development representative, and she held that position until her recent promotion. She was recently recognized by the 40 Under 40 Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 2017, 20 Under 40 Mountain West Credit Union Association 2017 and Top 30 Millennials by AZ Big Media.
EAST
The $148 million Homefield Credit Union in North Grafton, Mass., promoted Sarah Miller to vice president, underwriting and compliance. In addition to her new role, Miller will maintain her position as the credit union’s CRA Officer as well as continue to underwrite residential and commercial loans. Prior to joining Homefield in 2012, she was assistant vice president and manager at One Main Financial/Citigroup.
MIDWEST
The $2.6 billion United Federal Credit Union in St. Joseph, Mich., appointed Bryan Huff to branch manager in Alma, Ark. Huff brings 15 years of career experience to this position after most recently serving as the executive director of the Alma Area Chamber of Commerce. As branch manager, Huff will be responsible for business development within the community, membership engagement and positive public relations. He will also be tasked with maintaining the performance of the branch.
SOUTH
The $1.3 billion Allegacy Federal Credit Union in Winston-Salem, N.C., promoted two employees. Chrystal Parnell was promoted to SVP of marketing. Parnell joined Allegacy in 2007 and most recently served as vice president of marketing. She leads the credit union’s branding, marketing, research, corporate communications and public relations. Parnell earned a bachelor of arts degree from East Carolina University.
Kevin Pichardo was promoted to program manager. Pichardo is responsible for overseeing Allegacy’s newest collaboration, WellQ, a membership-based service that provides access to convenient, high-quality health care for everyday illnesses and wellness needs, along with wellness and financial coaching and education. In his new position as program manager, Pichardo will educate, inform and build relationships with area businesses and groups looking to improve both the physical and financial well-being of people in the community.
The $642 million Gulf Winds Federal Credit Union in Pensacola, Fla., hired Dale Johnson as vice president of finance and controller. Johnson previously worked at United Bank as the controller, managing its accounting and facilities teams, and has more than 13 years of experience working in the financial industry. In his new role, Johnson will lead efforts to ensure Gulf Winds remains financially safe, sound and secure.
The $2.2 billion Truliant Federal Credit Union in Winston-Salem, N.C., hired one employee and promoted another.
Darrell Rogers was hired as regional director of the credit union’s Southern region of member financial centers. As regional director, Rogers will be responsible for providing supervision and leadership to Truliant’s 17 member financial center locations in the Southern region. Most recently, Rogers served in several leadership roles for CommunityOne Bank. Beginning in the role of retail sales coach, he developed and supported branch employees across many locations in the Carolinas. He was then promoted to the role of market manager and oversaw a group of 14 branches.
Kim Dragt was promoted to director of deposit administration. In the newly-created role, Dragt will lead the credit union’s deposit administration department, which provides support to Truliant’s frontline staff, supports back-office processes for digital channels including remote deposit capture, handles online account opening, administers all deposits, and is a project resource for the credit union. Dragt joined Truliant in 1999 as a member service representative in its Frontis Plaza location and has moved up through the ranks since.
The $1.1 billion DuPont Community Credit Union based in Waynesboro, Va., hired one employee and promoted another.
Ron Buchanan was hired as SVP/CFO. Buchanan will lead DCCU’s accounting, finance, risk management/compliance and facilities departments. With more than 20 years of experience in finance, accounting, investments and property management, the credit union said his unique combination of skills and experience will make him an invaluable asset in the implementation of DCCU’s long-term planning and financial strategy.
Michelle Wilcher was promoted to director of retail. Wilcher will lead branch operations for seven DCCU branches in Augusta, Rockingham and Shenandoah counties. Wilcher began her career with DCCU in 1998, most recently serving as retail branch manager at the West Main and Stuarts Draft locations respectively.
