Professionals Make CU Industry Moves

Seven credit unions, one CUSO and one state league reveal People news this week.

Businessmen compete for success.

This past week, credit unions across the country announced new hires and promotions. In addition, CU Capital Market Solutions and the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association hired new employees.

WEST

Lori Fuselier

The $2.6 billion United Federal Credit Union in Reno, Nev., appointed Lori Fuselier to mortgage advisor at its Sparks, Nev., Spanish Springs branch. Fuselier will be using her more than 20 years of mortgage and finance experience to provide comprehensive real estate lending expertise to members through financial counseling and awareness of UFCU mortgage products. She will also be responsible for generating quality mortgage loans.

EAST

Stacey Young

The $289 million University Credit Union in Orono, Maine, promoted Stacey Young to assistant vice president of retail services for the credit union’s nine locations across the state of Maine. Young is a 25-year veteran of the financial services industry who joined UCU in 2012 as the branch manager. In her new role, Young will oversee all retail services operations for the credit union, including its on-campus locations at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham, the University of Maine in Orono and the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

MIDWEST

The $1.1 billion Hiway Federal Credit Union in St. Paul, Minn., promoted Barb Callais from assistant manager to card services manager. Callais has 18 years of experience at Hiway and has extensive knowledge of credit and debit cards, team management experience, as well as ensuring quality member experiences at more than 35 Hiway-owned or branded ATMs around Minnesota. She was an instrumental part of the team that updated and expanded Hiway’s credit card program.

Steve Flores

The $270 million Cornerstone Community Financial in Auburn Hills, Mich., promoted Steve Flores from operations manager to vice president of operations. In his new role, Flores, who joined CCF in 2011 as a financial service representative, is responsible for the development and execution of operational objectives and strategies across the credit union. Flores works with all departments of the credit union to improve products, services and processes for the benefit of members and staff. Before becoming vice president of operations, Flores served CCF in a variety of positions.

The $1.6 billion Corporate Central Credit Union in Muskego, Wis., hired two employees.

Justin Weber

Justin Weber was hired as business development manager. A financial analyst with nearly a decade of experience in both the credit union and banking industries, Weber will focus on initiatives that enhance service to Iowa and Illinois member credit unions, and work to develop new business relationships with non-member credit unions. He will also help Corporate Central enhance and improve product and service offerings, build strategic alliances and expand educational efforts.

Mark Volz

Mark Volz was hired as relationship development officer. Volz, a credit union business lending expert with an entrepreneurial, goal-oriented focus, will be responsible for developing initiatives related to member correspondent services. He will also work to enhance current and prospective member relationship programs, helping to ensure positive member experiences.

SOUTH

The $2.9 billion Coastal Credit Union in Raleigh, N.C., announced a series of department leadership changes.

Doreen Brown was promoted to assistant vice president, product development. Brown most recently served as the product development manager within the marketing team. The move is designed to help the credit union be faster and more effective in implementing new products and services. Brown has three years of experience with Coastal, primarily in IT, project management, marketing and product development.

MaryAnne Gangoy will assume the role of vice president, wealth management. Gangoy has been part of the retail leadership team at Coastal for the past five years, most recently as vice president, retail sales and service.

Brooke Rogers will assume the role of vice president, retail sales and service, and will oversee half of Coastal’s branch operations. Rogers has leadership experience running both Coastal’s call center and teller centers for the past five years.

Maria Moore will assume the role of assistant vice president, call centers and will be responsible for Coastal’s internal call center, external call center relationships and member loyalty program. Moore has led Coastal’s teller center for the past three years as a manager and an assistant vice president.

Cindy Moran

The $9.5 billion Security Service Federal Credit Union in San Antonio, Texas, promoted Cindy Moran to SVP of human resources. In this new role, Moran will oversee human resources operations and personnel for the 750,000-member credit union. Having served the credit union for 26 years, Moran has tremendous experience in leading team members.

CUSOs

Ashley Reece

CU Capital Market Solutions, a credit union CUSO, hired Ashley Reece to serve as a marketing assistant. She will work in CMS’ Atlanta office. Reece will communicate with CMS clients to make them aware of current loan participation opportunities and provide other marketing and communications support to CMS. She will also assist the loan participation desk with all types of loans, including USDA, SBA and CRE loans. Reece will work with CMS client credit unions and the CMS loan participation team all the way through closing to ensure compliance with NCUA regulations.

LEAGUES

Ken Dyer

The Pennsylvania Credit Union Association hired Ken Dyer as SVP/chief revenue officer. In his role, Dyer will be responsible for overseeing the activities of PCUA’s for-profit service corporation, PCUA Solutions. Dyer comes to PCUA after spending four years as the president/CEO at the $195 million Eastern Savings Bank in Connecticut, and a decade in the same position at Liberty Bay Credit Union in Massachusetts.
