Credit unions in California and Iowa named new CEOs Wednesday.
The board of directors for the $653 million Christian Community Credit Union in San Dimas, Calif., appointed Doug Martinez president/CEO, who has been on the job since last month.
He succeeded John Walling who retired in 2017 after 45 years of service, including 39 years as president/CEO.
Although Martinez has no professional credit union experience, the board noted CCCU will be well-positioned with innovative approaches that Martinez has brought to various entities and industries, according to the board's prepared statement.
Martinez began his career with American Standard, Inc., where he held several management positions. In 1987, he joined Price Pfister Inc. as vice president of sales and marketing. During his nine-year tenure, the company grew from $75 million in annual revenue to more than $350 million. After retiring from Price Pfister in 1995, Martinez founded a privately held investment company with broad-based investments and holdings across multiple industries and market sectors. During his tenure, he participated in and managed a complex variety of businesses and investments that yielded significant financial returns, according to CCCU's prepared statement.
The $396 million R.I.A. Federal Credit Union in Bettendorf, Iowa said it appointed Jim Watts as its new president/CEO.
He succeeded Larry Coverstone, who is retiring.
Watts holds more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. He comes to R.I.A. FCU from Central Bancshares, Inc., where he served as SVP and COO.
He also previously worked for West Texas National Bank as its COO and served as an EVP and chief information officer for the $2.2 billion Royal Credit Union in Eau Claire, Wis.
