Credit unions from coast to coast, as well as CUSOs and vendors, began 2018 by making new hires and promotions. Plus, one credit union mourned the passing of a long-time volunteer.
WEST
The $1.5 billion HAPO Community Credit Union in Richland, Wash., regrettably announced William T. Tyler, a dear friend and a member of the credit union for more than 49 years, passed away on Dec. 3, 2017. He served for 33 years on the credit union's board of directors and 10 years on the credit committee, and exemplified service to others. Tyler was a resident of Richland since 1948. He served in the United States Navy and was employed on the Hanford Reservation as a health physics technician for 26 years. He later was manager, health physics and served in that capacity for eight years.
The $618 million University of Hawai`i Federal Credit Union in Honolulu, Hawaii appointed Travis Bow president/CEO effective Jan. 1, 2018. Previously, Bow served as the vice president of member support, a position that oversaw multiple areas of the credit union, including the IT department and the credit union's branches. Bow's appointment follows the retirement of former president/CEO Jeanine Morse, who served in the role for nine years.
EAST
The $1 billion Suffolk Federal Credit Union in Medford, N.Y., promoted Vincent Hardalo to branch manager of the Southampton branch. In this position, Hardalo is responsible for developing new business relationships in conjunction with meeting credit union goals of increased membership, and loan and deposit growth. He manages all branch operations, performs regular analysis of production and sales data, and participates in local community affairs. Hardalo also provides leadership through coaching and support of all branch personnel in order to accomplish superior sales and service objectives.
The $4.6 billion Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union inPoughkeepsie, N.Y., made three staff changes.
Gary Armida (pictured) was named mortgage loan officer for the Montgomery and Newburgh branches. He has more than 28 years of banking and lending experience. Armida began his career with HVFCU in 2005, and his roles at the credit union have included director of sales and service, and assistant vice president of regional branch management.
Robyn Williams was promoted to assistant vice president of regional branch management. Williams has more than 20 years of banking and leadership experience, and most recently served as the credit union's Hollowbrook branch manager in Wappingers Falls since 2013.
Andria Spengler-Colon was promoted to branch manager of the Hollowbrook branch. Spengler-Colon began her career with HVFCU in 2002 as a financial services representative at Hollowbrook, and has since held various positions in both the collections department and branch management. The $420 million Nassau Financial Federal Credit Union in Westbury, N.Y., promoted Tina Carman to human resources manager. Carman joined Nassau Financial 19 years ago as a file clerk and shortly thereafter moved into human resources as a specialist. Since then, she has continually made contributions to advance Nassau Financial.
MIDWEST
The $3.4 billion Veridian Credit Union in Waterloo, Iowa, promoted two employees.
Molly Schmidt (pictured) was promoted to manager of core systems. Schmidt, a resident of Cedar Falls, has worked at Veridian for 18 years. She was previously the manager of human resources. Schmidt has a degree in organizational communications from the University of Northern Iowa. She is a board member for the Main Street Holiday Hoopla in Cedar Falls and a Girl Scout troop leader.
Jennifer Lidtke was promoted to manager of payroll and benefits. Lidtke, a resident of Waterloo, has worked at Veridian for 14 years. She was previously a team leader in the member contact center. Lidtke has a degree in business administration from the University of Northern Iowa, and she is a board member and volunteer at the Waterloo Public Library.
SOUTH
The $2.3 billion Robins Financial Credit Union in Warner Robins, Ga.,promoted India Crumpton (pictured) to Forsyth branch manager. Crumpton has worked at Robins Financial for 18 years. She worked in several branch positions before being promoted to branch manager.
CUSOs
United Solutions Company, a CUSO providing technology solutions to credit unions and other businesses throughout country, hired Tami Webb as vice president of sales. Webb will help identify credit union needs and cultivate collaborative partnerships. Webb began her career in the financial services industry at the FDIC. Prior to joining USC, she worked as a senior sales executive for Fiserv, Inc., and has also worked for Jack Henry, CUNA Mutual Group and Wolters Kluwer. She brings with her more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry.
VENDORS
The Sheeter Group, an executive benefits firm, hired Jay Petty as EVP, serving the Western region. Petty's well-rounded, 28-year career in credit unions includes positions at multiple credit unions and CUNA Mutual Group. Petty will be responsible for internal audits, CUSO management, managing retail member investment and insurance programs, institutional investments, balance sheet analytics and executive benefits/supplemental executive retirement plans.
