South Carolina's largest credit union, the $2.1 billion Founders Federal Credit Union, will pay $6 million over the next seven years to become the official credit union partner of Clemson University.
The deal will expand the credit union's brand presence on the university's campus and athletic events, and to an undergraduate and graduate student body of more than 21,000.
"This sponsorship allows Founders to expand our reach in the Clemson market with maximum exposure on campus and throughout Clemson athletics," Nicki Nash, Founders' chief marketing officer, said.
The deal makes the Lancaster-based Founders a presenting sponsor for Clemson's Homecoming football game and the sponsor of major campus events and programs throughout the year. In addition, its brand will be displayed at Littlejohn Coliseum, the home of the Clemson Tigers basketball team.
"This deal gives us recognition at many sporting events on campus including scoreboard and digital signage within the football stadium, as well as our logo displayed on the court at Littlejohn Coliseum, and among other areas," Nash said.
Founders also rolled out a Clemson co-branded debit card for its members.
"Founders believes in supporting universities throughout our service areas, and we are a longstanding supporter of Clemson University," Founders President/CEO Bruce Brumfield said. "This enhanced partnership will allow us to become an integral part of both the athletic and the on-campus Clemson experience."
