This past week on cutimes.com, topics including the NCUA's potential merger of its corporate stabilization fund with its share insurance fund, SBA lending and DACA got readers talking. Here's what they had to say.
"Funds May Need to Be Merged to Avoid Assessment: Metsger to NAFCU," Sept. 12
The NCUA is a government agency, plus when they factor in how many credit unions will fail due to the hurricanes, credit unions will never see a dime of that money.

"SBA Signs Agreement With NAFCU to Push Loans: Congressional Caucus," Sept. 13
This is great news for America and shows that the SBA is expanding its client base. The low income designation has never been used to its potential.

"Two Storms, a Data Breach and Some Dreamers Walk Into a Bar," Sept. 14
The author of this article hurled a pretty incendiary accusation at those who were in favor of the suspension of DACA, calling them racists. That term is used so often, and so inappropriately, that it is losing its meaning, and seems to be a convenient way of dodging discussion of an issue – just call the other person a racist/bigot/whatever to delegitimize their position, instead of putting forth a logical argument on why you disagree.
In my many years in management I've hired people of a variety of ethnicities and nations of origin, including Ghana, Ireland, the Philippines and Guatemala. Those from foreign countries played by the rules, obtained the proper documentation and permits (for which I supplied paperwork each year for their visa renewals). Whenever the subject of illegal immigration would come up (not often, but it happened) to a person they were upset at the thought that someone could just walk across the border and get a job, without following the rules the legal immigrants followed to get here. Would the author call these people racists for being against illegal immigration and having everyone play by the same rules?
The situation for the people covered by DACA is unfortunate, but it was of their (or their parents') making. At some point the rules have to be enforced – equality before the law, and all that.
