Recent headlines on the Trump Administration's power to abolish the CFPB and the meaning of innovation got readers talking. Here are a few excerpts of what some of them had to say.
“Trump Has Power to Remove CFPB Director Cordray Now, Conservatives Say,” March 21
The CFPB is a left-wing advocacy construct with the primary Big Government objective of making consumers' choices for them – under the rationale that consumers are too stupid to make their own decisions. That level of hubris is un-American.
The CFPB, along with the U.S. Treasury's FinCEN with its onerous BSA/AML, anti-terrorist complex and costly compliance requirements, are the two most aggressive, pro-regulation, pro-nationalization, highly-intrusive federal government factors killing off the nation's smaller financial services providers.
The CFPB is a major source of the Democratic Party's trajectory to socially re-engineer the financial services marketplace to redistribute Americans' earnings to the Democratic Party's electoral base constituencies. For shame!
Repeal of the Dodd-Frank Act and the outright closing down of the CFPB represent vitally-important steps toward revitalizing American prosperity.

“Temporary Discomfort Opens Doors to Success,” April 5
I recently received my copy of CU Times, and as I flipped through the pages I saw [Natasha Chilingerian's] headline and was immediately intrigued. The headline, “Temporary Discomfort Opens Doors to Success,” was very intriguing to me from a work and personal perspective. I loved the perspective of your article. Credit union leaders and managers should be prepared to veer off into another direction when the path gets rough to better serve our members. We should also be willing to be innovative and create our own routes, even when they are rough, to get the job done to improve our member experience.
Your article also had a ripple effect. I shared your headline with one of my friends who works in the education field. She loved it and shared it with her principal! The article was credit union-focused, but there were other valid points that are relevant regardless of your industry.
Who knew that ONE headline and article could mean so many different things to a variety of people?
