Credit union HR departments were busy this past week, as six cooperatives announced new hires and promotions.

Plus, auto lending CUSO CU Direct hired a new chief strategy officer for automotive solutions.

SOUTH

credit union executive movesThe $2.2 billion Langley Federal Credit Union in Newport News, Va., named Jose Iregui as vice president of collections. Iregui is now responsible for all of the collections operations including repossession, foreclosures, specialty collections and remarketing.

EAST

The $327 million Piedmont Advantage Credit Union in Winston-Salem, N.C., hired Michael Westbrook as a financial advisor. Westbrook, an investment representative affiliated with broker dealer and Registered Investment Adviser CUSO Financial Services, L.P. specializes in helping clients manage the financial dynamics associated with preserving, growing and transferring wealth to the next generation.

MIDWEST

credit union executive movesThe $844 million SPIRE Credit Union based in Falcon Heights, Minn., hired Beth Schaller as the Woodbury branch manager. Prior to joining SPIRE, Schaller worked for nine years at a Wisconsin-based credit union as its Baldwin Office Supervisor.

The $2.9 billion Teachers Credit Union in South Bend, Ind., promoted Gene Novello to EVP and COO. Novello will take over responsibility for the day-to-day operations and direction of the organization from current president Paul Marsh.

WEST

credit union executive movesThe $6.4 billion Alaska USA Federal Credit Union in Anchorage, Alaska appointed three employees to fill executive positions. John Cassidy was hired as CFO. Cassidy brings more than 25 years of executive-level financial institution experience, including previous positions as president/CEO and CFO of a corporate credit union.

credit union executive movesDavid Vanzant was hired as vice president, enterprise security. Vanzant has more than 20 years of experience in physical and information security, stemming from a career as a special agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. 

credit union executive movesShawn Brume was hired as SVP, information management governance. Brume spent 17 years with IBM in the tape storage division and has been an active participant of the Storage Networking Industry Association and the Linear Tape-Open Program throughout his IT career.

The $1.7 billion Numerica Credit Union in Spokane, Wash., promoted six employees.   

credit union executive movesCindy Leaver's role is expanding as CFO to now include chief strategy officer. In this new position, she will work in tandem with Numerica President/CEO Carla Altepeter to translate the credit union's mission into actionable plans. She has been with Numerica for more than a decade and has more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry. 

credit union executive movesJana Erny was promoted to SVP of retail experience/lending and operations. Erny previously served as vice president for retail lending and loan operations. With her promotion she will now oversee Spokane and Idaho retail branches as well as branch operations. 

credit union executive movesGreg Hansen was promoted to SVP of business services. With more than 30 years of experience, Hansen will now be overseeing the dealer center in addition to business services. He has been with Numerica since 2010 and manages all commercial, investor real estate, SBA, small business and cash management functions.

Rob Stephens was promoted to SVP of finance. Stephens will continue his oversight of the finance department with responsibility over wealth management and investment services. He has been with the credit union since 2012. Andy Stirling was promoted to vice president for Numerica's Central Washington region. Stirling has more than 12 years of experience in the financial industry, with nearly 10 years in leadership/management roles.

credit union executive movesCU Direct appointed Ron Frey, automotive innovator and executive, to serve as the company's chief strategy officer, automotive solutions. Frey has spent 30 years serving the automotive and credit union industry. In his position with CU Direct, he will oversee the planning and direction of automotive solutions as it relates to product and market expansion.
