This past week, eight credit unions from coast to coast revealed new hires and promotions. GTE Financial's HR department was especially busy, as it promoted five employees and hired another.
WEST
The $860 million Los Angeles Federal Credit Union in Glendale, Calif., hired Armine Muradyan (pictured) as vice president of human resources. Muradyan joins LAFCU with more than 20 years of human resource management experience. Muradyan will be responsible for the leadership of the human resource department, overseeing employee benefits, compensation, payroll, staffing and training.
SOUTH
The $1.1 billion Georgia United Credit Union in Duluth, Ga., hired Dan L. Trenary as vice president of enterprise program management. Trenary fills a newly-created role that oversees the strategic alignment and execution of the project portfolio and other program initiatives of the credit union. He will be responsible for leading a group of project managers, process improvement specialists and business analysts.
The $2 billion Truliant Federal Credit Union in Winston-Salem, N.C., promoted Chief Legal Officer Joe Clark (pictured) to chief administrative officer. In this newly-created position, Clark will be responsible for creating comprehensive strategies for teams encompassing facilities management and services, vendor management, digital document management, enterprise risk management and business continuity. He retains responsibility for Truliant's legal, regulatory and compliance functions along with collections, special assets and project management.
The $1.8 billion GTE Financial in Tampa, Fla., promoted five employees and hired another. Brad Baker was promoted to EVP and CFO. Baker has worked at GTE for more than 25 years and began as director of accounting. He later became vice president of finance and vice president of member services. In his new role, he will oversee marketing and GTE's member experience department. Scott DeThomas was promoted to SVP and chief experience officer. DeThomas previously served as SVP of member sales and services. He will oversee administration, facilities and business continuity planning. Chad Burney is the chief information officer for GTE Financial and has added COO to his title and responsibilities. He is an award-winning information technology leader with repeated success in leading and directing technology and business operations. Mandy Zurbrick was promoted to SVP and chief marketing and strategy officer. Zurbrick began with GTE 10 years ago as the credit union's marketing director. Six years ago, she was elevated to vice president of marketing and promotions. Jennifer Maxfield was promoted to vice president of marketing. She created strategies that have played a pivotal role in developing GTE's unique brand. Maxfield will oversee the introduction of new company products while assisting the executive team with strategic company initiatives. Jasiel Legon was hired as SVP and chief talent officer. He has more than 20 years of experience in banking and a wealth of experience in human resources. In 2012, Legon became the vice president of people and culture for Oportun, Inc., where he built the company's human resources department.
The $534 million USF Federal Credit Union in Tampa, Fla., hired Rob Perry (pictured) as the new manager of the main Tampa branch. Perry's primary responsibilities will include directing branch operations while adhering to established procedures and regulations, business development, training branch employees and leading a highly productive team that meets the financial objectives of the credit union.
MIDWEST
The $1.8 billion Royal Credit Union in Eau Claire, Wis., promoted Colin Boone to corporate risk manager. He is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for the risk analyst group in order to protect Royal and its members from losses related to fraud. He will also lead the enterprise risk management program, vendor management program, and business continuity and disaster recovery planning process.
The $2.9 billion Veridian Credit Union in Waterloo, Iowa promoted Christal Wing (pictured) to commercial loan officer at the Blairs Ferry branch in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Wing has been employed at Veridian for 19 years, most recently as a branch manager. She's a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a bachelor's degree in marketing and sales.
The $2.1 billion United Federal Credit Union in St. Joseph, Mich., promoted one employee and hired another. Brett Wier was promoted to the newly-created position of vice president of lending. Wier will be responsible for all initiatives related to indirect, mortgage and business sales throughout UFCU's six-state footprint. Wier assumes the new position after serving as market vice president responsible for retail sales and membership growth in southern Berrien County, Indiana and Ohio.
James Pecka was hired as business service adviser. Pecka will provide financial counseling and product awareness to credit union members regarding their business needs and growth objectives. Pecka has a background in both the financial and real estate industries.
