CFPB Issues Final Mortgage Servicing Rules

I'm no fan of the CFPB. I believe it should be run by a board and Director Cordray removed, but, that being said, it does NAFCU no good to dispute every single proposed rule.

CFPB Arbitration Rules Provide Needed Consumer Protection: Democrats

Arbitration only hurts one group – trial lawyers. For a party that always claims to protect the working class, I always marvel at how well the Democrats are on the side of trial lawyers.

Trump's Proposed Rules Moratorium Unlikely to Hit NCUA

I think it is irresponsible to suggest that Mr. Trump's moratorium would not include financial institutions. Credit unions do not need another piece of regulatory nonsense.

Fascists coming to power have historically been a mixed bag for co-ops. On the one hand, the Mondragon complex was founded and flourished under Franco (it was founded by a Catholic priest and Catholicism was a key legitimizing factor for Franco). On the other hand, Germany (the birthplace of the credit union model) went from having one of the most advanced co-op economies at the end of the 1920s to having it almost completely dismantled by the start of the war. Has anyone heard any rhetoric from Trump on co-ops one way or the other?

Community Banks Thrive Under Dodd-Frank: Obama Council

The White House's Council of Economic Advisers Issue Brief entitled "The Performance of Community Banks Over Time" never once mentioned the extraordinarily negative and disruptive rulemaking, and the purposely reckless law enforcement activities engaged in by the horribly partisan and probably unconstitutional CFPB. The White House's economic elites equivocate and obfuscate, and in the meantime the Main Street American economy suffers under the misguided polices put in place by the Obama Administration's Dodd-Frank Act.
