Nothing beats a round of golf, especially when it has helped make a difference in the lives of children battling life-threatening illnesses.
Chartway Federal Credit Union's We Promise Foundation recently held its 1st Annual Putting for Promises Golf Tournament and raised $53,000 to help make the dreams of some very brave children come true.
Held at the Thanksgiving Point Golf Course, the tournament featured the We Promise golfers and 10 We Promise children, who arrived by limousine and received cheers and high-fives as walked across a red carpet rolled out just for them.

"We are immensely grateful for the generosity of our sponsors, the kindness of our volunteers, and the support of so many who either attended our events or kindly donated items for charitable auction," Phil Richards, chairman of the We Promise Foundation said. "It is only thanks to their tremendous contributions that we are able to give courageous children a dose of healing and hope through the gift of a dream fulfilled."
Since 1999, the credit union and its We Promise Foundation have raised more than $8 million to bring smiles to the faces of thousands of children.
